Mission Recorder in WOE?

Recommended Posts

I've had WOV for about 2 years now, but almost never play it because it lacks a mission recorder like the kind found in Falcon, Lock-On or Pacific Fighters. It just seems wrong that a company would publish a flight sim without including one.

I am not concerned with being able to re-fly the mission in the middle of playback, but I do want to be able to switch to external views and break down my mission performance. Using a frame capture program like FRAPS is not the same thing.

Does WOE have one or is it basically the same as WOV?

Nope, no inflight mission recorder.

Bummer... Any other 1960's sims out there that have one? I've been dying for something like WOV since ever since Flight of the Intruder. Now that is a game I wish someone would modernize.

First Flight records your flight, though. IIRC, it uses a modded SF engine, doesn't it? So, it's possible. Probably difficult, but possible. Assuming I remember correctly that it is based on TK's engine, anyway.

I definitely miss not having a mission recorder. The sim is quite pretty and it would be nice to watch myself crash and burn when I try to land on a carrier!

Sad to see people won't play a game at all due to the fact that it isn't the same as other games. I'm sure since Thirdwire isn't a huge production company that if you wanted to float them some money, they might find their way to make a flight recorder.

Well after they fix up all of the AI, flight models, weapons, avionics, multiplayer and so on.

Why should I spend time on a SIM that not only doesn't fully cater to my entertainment, but also doesn't have the tools I need to improve my skill in these simulations when there are products in the market that do?

Given how much development work goes into external views, one would think that they would automatically factor the development of a flight recorder into the budget.

The times that require the most in cockpit focus also happen to be the best times to review with a mission recorder.

The only reason I got WOV was because there are no sims on the market for that era otherwise I would not have touched it.

My advice is that you post regarding this on the forum at the developer's site (www.thirdwire.com).

At the very least, if you take the time argue your point in a polite and rational manner (and point out that this feature was already available in First Flights), TK might take it into consideration, and at least consider implementing it. He's done so in past
