Barkhorn1x 14 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) ...had an issue. PC would not boot outside of Safe Mode. So I had to back up the important stuff and do a fresh install of XP Pro. Now - I am confused by which EXACT DirectX install I should go w/ here. My understanding is that XP uses 9C and Vista uses 10. - Is that in fact correct? - And, if so, where is the correct link for 9C? Is this it: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...en#Requirements I really need to know before I install as I don't want to screw stuff up. System specs: System specs; AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core AM2 3500+ CPU 2GB DDR2 PC4200 Non-ECC Memory (2GB x 1) K9N Neo-F AM2 ATX mobo 160GB 7200RPM 3G SATA II Hard Drive 16X DVD+/-R/RW Dual Layer Drive w/Cyberlink GeForce 7600GT 256MB PCI-Express (2 DVI) Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio Windows XP Professional Thanks. JediMaster 451 Posted November 13, 2007 You don't really have to worry. MS Update will grab the latest version of DX. Or you can go to www.microsoft.com/directx and get it from there. Anyway, you can't get DX10 for XP, it doesn't exist, so there's no danger of getting the wrong one. Vista uses DX9L I think, but you don't have it so no worries.
