Viggen Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 (edited) Looks nice! I'd like to take a spin in that. Were you able to take out the comm building? Edited January 31, 2008 by JA 37 Viggen Quote

Anyway, two pics of my cammo Impala MK1 skin, still a work in progress. Quote
gregair Posted January 31, 2008 Author Posted January 31, 2008 I am using photobucket, how do I post a pic directly onto the page, like the Angolan Hind above? Quote

gregair Posted January 31, 2008 Author Posted January 31, 2008 Thanks JA 37 Viggen. This is the correct style cammo pattern for most SAAF Impala MK1's & MK2's The Impala MK 1's in this cammo were used by SAAF in Southern Angola for "Telstar" (Radio relay Aircraft), search and rescue and various co-ordination tasks. This is the same standard cammo used by the single seat Impala MK2's in "Ops in Angola",(Close air support, strike, interdiction etc) note some aircraft had full national markings and some were later devoid of all national markings. There were also a few interesting "Experimental" cammo schemes used on operations, I will give those a try when we have a proper single seat Impala MK2 for the game. (ASAP please Marcfighters, Ordway) Quote
Viggen Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Is there going to be a colour for the SAAF team? Quote
+Crusader Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Beat me to it huh ya lil.......... Quote
+ordway Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Well ya got some pics posted but if you are going to show a pic of the plane you have to get up close. Zoom in on it and show it off. Map the keyboard so you can get rid of that surround information in the corners and then take your pics. Okay, Here's the finished Aeromacchi "preproduction model" that has just been posted with "more acceptable" images. The Aeromacchi "preproduction" version firing its internal 30mm guns. The initial 30mm gunpods of the version. The production version would refine the gunpod design. The two victory markings of SAAF Capt. W. Westoby...taken from an actual photograph on a SAAF F.1. Mirage. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=5937 Quote
Guest Saganuay82 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Much better pics. Now we see the aircraft as opposed to all the dirt under it. Now get a new pilot too. Quote
gregair Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 Good work Ordway. Some info though, the fuselage gunpods are back to front, the narrow part faces the front of the aircraft and the "fat" part should point to the tail, the black hole that we are currently shooting out of is actually the empty casing ejection port. (see photos below). Is it possible to turn it around? Are you going to be able blank off the rear cockpit? Keep up the good work, really looking forward to the completed project, thank you. Quote

Thanks Gregair for feedback. I already have some of those photos you showed me above as shown by my hangar screen. I think I tried to explain some of this in my readme under "known issues" and "designer notes": "- Remember, this is a Maachi single-seat "preproduction model". -Two preliminary internal 30MM Aden cannon "were bolted" into the nose. -It now has two internal 30MM DEFA cannon with its preliminary bulges. -This model still retains the long two-pilot canopy. - This is a model for the community while we wait for the "production" Impala II to be released. In other words, this is meant to represent a model that the South Africans converted themselves because of their desperarate embargoed situation and as a base for future production single seat models. The good news is that the flight model, internal gun and siting should be almost exactly (if not exactly) like the production model and like Silverbolt's. This "preproduction" model is designed to be able to stand up side-by-side with the final production version as seen in this thread previously. It wouldn't be right for me to "take Silverbolt's hard work and put it into the trash bin", now would it? I feel your pain. I too am waiting for Silverbolt's beautiful finished production model as seen in this thread....Silverbolt??? I feel that I have gone about as far as I am able to with this model. If someone else wants to continue on my work..or change it, then please do so. I would be more than glad to provide a "production model" SAAF camouflage skin which is what you see as more typical in most photographs. I hope you understand?...and we can look foward to Silverbolt's production model! Edited February 3, 2008 by ordway Quote
gregair Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 Hey Ordway, I understand what you are saying, be sure I was not criticizing your work, I was just asking if those changes were possible. Thanks again for what you have done. Quote

gregair Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 Hey Starfighter2, those two photos are of Imp MK 2's from 5 squadron when they were based in Durban in the 80's, used to watch them flying around almost every day, the good old days Quote

No worries! I can see why you are so passionate about them. gregair wrote: "used to watch them flying around almost every day!" The SAAF is really under represented in the SFP1 series for what they did (basically held off the whole Soviet empire with nothing but training and professionalism and got more than a few aerial kills in the process). +ordway Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Starfighter, those are beautiful pics of the IMP. Got any more you would be willing to share here? Quote
gregair Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 Her a few interesting ones Ordway. 2 of the same Imps from the previouse photos, 1085 & 1082 but this is later in their lives with all national markings remove for ops. The next pics are of two Imps in experimental schemes. They flew in Ops area in these experimental schemes. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg268/g...000/imp2_53.jpg It would be really nice to have a Southern African terrain and campaign. Quote
gregair Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 Sorry about that last photo, here is another try Quote
+ordway Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Beautiful photos of the IMP! We'll have to give it some terrain, too. Quote
