Army Officials have released more information describing their efforts to locate missing soldier Matt Maupin.

According to Public Affairs Officer LTC Steve Stover, "Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin's remains were recovered northwest of Baghdad on March 20, by Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, based out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, attached to 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment. The recovery was the result of four years of intensive efforts by Multi-National Division-Baghdad Soldiers and multiple joint and interagency organizations."

"Since beginning operations in Abu Ghraib, we made finding Staff Sgt. Maupin a top priority to clearly demonstrate to every service member, and every Family, that we will never leave a fallen comrade," said Col. John RisCassi, commander, 2SCR.

DNA testing allowed officials to positively identify the remains of Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin on March 30.

thought of the 4 that were captured in Jun 2007 that evidence had been recovered of 3 of them and Speicher from D/S was the other...the multitude of sources seem conflicting though
