WOV F-4 Airbases - Home of the F-4D/E Phantoms

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am going to lean on the knowledge of the community here (after googling my tail off) and ask this:

Which of the Wings Over Vietnam airfields would most appropriately represent the best home for the F-4D/E Phantoms - and why? Thanks for any insight you can share!

Any with a long enough runway ive found

and close to North vietnam so you have less airmiles to fly

Are you looking for bases the F-4 was actually stationed at?

The revised WOV USAF F-4 Tailcode decals I did had some historical content within it. If you have any specific questions about histories of units in Southeast Asia I can probably help you out. Udorn, Ubon and Da Nang were probably the three most prominent Phantom II bases for USAF units during the war. Da Nang, Chu Lai and Nam Phong were the Marine F-4 bases.

Thanks guys. MPPD, good info with your decals - very nice!

I'm looking to populate one of the airbases as a trial/beta with static aircraft, extra objects, etc. - maybe Da Nang might be a good choice?
