cgold Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I have the new external tanks for the F-14 but they have no textures. I had to add them manually because I wanted to keep the other weapons I had from another weapons pack. I renamed the new tanks (.LOD and textures) to the old name (TANK330_F14). I had them working for a while but I had to fix a few weps that didn't have models. (French A2A's and Etc.) What am I doing wrong or any suggestions?
Silverbolt Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 i think they're not new.... IICM they came with F-14A
+column5 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I think the ones that were in our original pack had fins, which were only correct for very early tanks.
+bpao Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 the new fuel tank is in new (TMF) weapons pack fro WOE/SFP ++ and the white problem... you have forgot the bmp file. ++

cgold Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 I changed the textures from 256 to 512. Was that a bad move?
kct Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Did you look at the .lod through a hex editor? It helps...a lot.
cgold Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 Did you look at the .lod through a hex editor? It helps...a lot. uhhh...sorry, what's a hex editor and where can I get one?
kct Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Basically something that involves a lot of binaries. In fact, hundreds or even thousands of binaries. You can search for a free one through Google. Open the .lod with the hex editor, and search for the line stating which .bmp the .lod uses. For example, if the .lod specified something like 'TANK330_F14.bmp', then make sure that your .bmp is named accordingly. Edited August 28, 2008 by kct

I'll try that ASAP. BTW, nice signature pic.
kct Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Thanks, I just randomly took the pic off the Net.
cgold Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 I got a free hex editor and I opened up the TANK330_F14.LOD file, but all I see is a bunch of numbers. Where do I find the line about the .bmp file?
kct Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Search for .bmp or something...it should be there, somewhere along the lines.
cgold Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 This is what the screen looks like. I am so new to this, maybe I just need to learn. Where would one find that line about the .bmp file?
kct Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Click Search > Find > Make sure that 'Text string' is checked, and search for 'bmp' (minus the quotation marks).
mppd Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Hexedit is a good free editor: http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~prewett/hexedit/ Mike D.
cgold Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 kct, you rock. To all the Tomcat enthusiasts and former pilots, I salute you. Thank you all for your input. BTW, Column5, that F-14B is looking good. I hope to see the Super Tomcat later on!!!
