darkjak Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Well, I'm trying to learn the tools right now, but here's my basic idea for the story: In 1980 Solidarnosc, an anti-communistic movement is formed in Poland. In 1981 the socialist government attempt to destroy the organisation via martial law. The plan backfires as also the military dislikes the socialists. The legendary "hidden war" breaks out as the anti-socialistic military enters Warsaw to overthrow the socialist government. Despite parts of the military and police still being loyally defending the parliament, people unknowingly wake up on december 14 1981, finding themselves in the Solidary Sovreign State of Poland (SSSP). Knowing of the imminent threat from the Soviet Union, the Polish government attempts to find allies. NATO refuses Poland membership due to the risk of starting a new world war. On december 18th, Sweden agrees on an alliance. As a gesture of good faith, Polish troops are stationed at Gotland and Swedish troops get stationed at the Polish-Soviet border. On new years day the Soviet Union enters Poland, only to enter Sweden two days later. I've made some investigations to see what aircraft the nations had back in the 80's and here's what I've found: Polish Aircraft Mig 21 Mig 23 Mig 29 Su-22 Swedish Aircraft Lansen Draken Viggen SK60 Soviet Union An-12 SU 7 SU 15 SU 25 SU 27 Mig 21 Mig 25 Mig 27 Mig 31 Mig 23 Tu 128 Yak 28 I'm going to attempt to make the pack contain as many of these vehicles as possible, but since I'm a nice guy I won't add anything without the creator's permission. Since I'm new, there's quite a big likelyhood that I'll be asking what to do. The campaign will also contain some custom terrain. Edited October 6, 2008 by darkjak Quote
darkjak Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Here's my first question: According to the guide that's up on this site, there should be two files in my campaign folder. Campaign2 and CAMPAIGN2_DATA. All I can find is woeCAMP4. What am I supposed to do? Also, where can you download Tk's Terrain editor? Edited October 6, 2008 by darkjak Quote

You need to extract the .INI files from flight\flightdata.cat I believe the terrain editor is available on http://www.thirdwire.com/ Quote
darkjak Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 Aren't there any more clear guides? Quote
malibu43 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Aren't there any more clear guides? Not really, unfortunately. If you read through a lot of the threads in this forum, you can gain a lot of information. The best way to learn, is to take an existing campaign, and start by changing the nations, dates, aircraft types, weapons, etc... to what you want, then try it. It almost certainly won't work the first time, but you'll start to figure out what you need to do and work your way through it. When you hit road blocks, post your questions in this thread and I'm sure people will try and help as best as they can. Good luck! Quote
brader Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Very interesting project I hope you are more patient than me If you have any questions about polish military i will help you with pleasure Good luck Quote
+suhsjake Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I don't want to intrude on your mission, but why Sweden? It would make more sense (to me at least) if it was Finland than Sweden. Anyways, keep working at it. We always need more campaigns. Quote

First, Sweden was neutral, second, Sweden has kewl aircraft, and third I'm from Sweden. But yeah, I think I could add Finland into the mix. The question is, where can this campaign take place? I also wonder if anyone's willing to help me, maybe make some terrain or sumtin'? I wonder if anyone knows of any Polish/Finish unit calisgns? Also, what planes did Finland have during the 80's? *Edit* This is what I found out Finland: MIG 21 Saab J35 Draken Edited October 12, 2008 by darkjak Quote
darkjak Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 (edited) I've progressed quite far on the terrain. I still want to place out more cities and targets, but overall the most work is quite done. With the campaign I need help with what the units are supposed to be called. darkjak Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Here's a preview of the territory. Because of the frankly strange way the world map is divided in the sattelite view thingy I got my height map from, I had a choice: either I'd have large parts of the Soviet Union, eastern Poland, all of Finland, but no part of Sweden whatsoever, or I could have southern Sweden, east Germany, Northern Poland, Denmark and a small bit of Soviet territory. I chose the later, which means that the enemy will mostly be attacking from the East. To avoid the enemies ONLY attacking from the West, I've let the Russians invade Gotland. The Finns primary base will be on Åland. So here's the pre-mission screen I'll use in the campaign. Quote

It sounds like you have windows set to hide known file extensions, Meaning that if the computer knows a type of file you won't see what comes after the dot. Campaign.INI just looks like Campaign This is for Vista, but i'm sure XP is pretty simular, You will need to go into Control Panel/Folder Options, click on the View tab and uncheck "Hide Extensions For Known File Types" and click apply and then click OK. Then Campaign.INI will show up as Campaign.INI when you view a folders contents. Quote
darkjak Posted October 25, 2008 Author Posted October 25, 2008 I have a problem with my map. I can't get the correct names of the cities, the old ones seem to remain. Also, every time I enter the planning map, the game crashes. Anyone know what to do? Quote

darkjak Posted October 25, 2008 Author Posted October 25, 2008 (edited) I've been looking arround, and this is What I've found when it comes to aircraft: Sweden: Finland: Poland: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...ll=1&id=130 I think this is a sufficient variety of aircraft, but I wouldn't have anything against including the Lansen, SK60, Iskra or other aircraft that were used by Sweden, Finland or Poland. darkjak Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 After lots of work, I've managed to get water on my map :fans: However, I've got a few issues. First of all, the following screens are above what's supposed to be Halmstad. WHERE IS IT!?! Same problem with every city... Also you can see the square, untransitioned textures with the same bit of road... repeating again and again. I've put forrest as priority 1, and lowered the minimum level to 5 meters, and yet there's surprisingly little forrest. And finally, the weird untransitioned square tiles going into the sea. What's wrong? Quote
darkjak Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 Yet again, an update. Here's a pic of the campaign creation menu. Unfortunatelly I haven't got much further than this. Quote

You can download my Black Sea Terrain and determine if you think I have the necessary skill you're looking for. Tell me what you're looking for in the terrain. pfunk Quote
darkjak Posted November 8, 2008 Author Posted November 8, 2008 Well, I've still got the same issues as before. If you want to help me, phunk, that would kick ass. I want the map to contain the territory on the image. I think that your black sea map is quite good. I love the dense vegetation and buildings. However, if you have problems with getting the height map, I can send over all my current stuff. It doesent contain all the territory I want, but it's something. Quote
brader Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 (edited) I made map of this area (1000x1000) It's "fresh" terrain actually, with simple autotexture Edited November 9, 2008 by brader Quote
darkjak Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 (edited) Nice! I'd like it a bit bigger, with the Gulf of Finland going all the way to S:t Petersburgh and a bit more north, so a bit more of Finland will be included. Also, I think it would be great if we could use sattelite images for some of the bigger cities (and maybe places a bit more special to ourselves). Thanks a lot for showing interrest!
