warthog64 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) I noticed that in my installation of WOE that different terrains seem to have one issue in common. The targets and numbers of targets are unique to each terrain, in a weird way. For instance every time I fly a mission in the Libya terrain there are never any static aircraft on the airfields, but there are always plenty of ground targets such as AAA Sams and tanks. However When I fly a mission in the stock VietnamSEA terrain there are tons of static aircraft, but never any more than two ground targets, usually a Sam launcher, and it's radar but thats it. Is there a way to make it so there are always both of these target types in each terrain, in large numbers. Thanks Edited March 23, 2009 by Wrench changed title to more point toward the actual problem being experiened Quote
Wrench Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 in the "Options" menu, set your ground objects to "Unlimited" BE ADVISED of possible frame rate hits and LLOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG loading times. odd, I've got plenty of parked aircraft in Lybia..??? of course, I'm set to unlimited.. warthog64 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 That worked, thanks for your help! Quote
warthog64 Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Well I just noticed that I was a little premature in thinking that I solved this problem. After I did the fix in the options menu I was only playing the Vietnam terrain. I just now noticed that although the vietnam terrain targets have been fixed, Libya still lacks static aircraft on airfields. Also the line I changed to get the Vietnam targets was GroundObjectDensity. I did not see just a line called groundobjects. Is there something else I need to do? Quote
+331Killerbee Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 (edited) Warthog64, That's because those Terrains were Pre-Patch Oct.08. That Patch added Static Parking to Airfields. More than likely, If You'll look at that Terrains' Airfield.INI's (Example Desert_Airfield1.ini.....) It's Static Parking is set up wrongly or is not set up like the "Stock" ones in the .CAT.....Use the .CAT Extractor to extract one of those .INI Files with the ones that came With the Moded Terrain.......If You notice a difference.....I'd go with the information that came out of the .CAT......hint,hint. warthog64 Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 Where would I find the cat files in the Libya terrain. I know the stock Vietnamsea terrain has them in the cat extractor. But I didn't see them for the added terrains. And Thanks for your help! Quote
+331Killerbee Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) In the Lybia.INI it will tell You what .Cat it's using and the FilePath. If it's VietnamSEA.CAT, Look in it and Extract VIETNAMSEA AIRFIELD1 (Through 6).INI.......There's DESERT AIRFIELD1-6.INI's in that .CAT too...... +331Killerbee Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 In the (Whatever)_Targets.INI in that Terrain's Folder, It'll tell You what Type of AirField that it's using. For Example... warthog64 Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 What I cannot find is the base .CAT folder when I click Terrain/Libya I don't see the little yellow icon where all the files are stored like the stock VietnamSea, and GermanyCE have. Quote
Wrench Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Really, it should generate the parked planes all by itself == I mean, MINE does! Now, I've got mine pointd to the GermanyCE.cat; but post patch the VietnameSEA cat should have all the desertairfield inis included. AND it was tested in all 3 games... At worst, extract the desert airfield inis (like he said), and drop them into the Libya folder. Again, also make sure you're set to UNLIMITED for ground objects, or you won't get all the parked planes and stuff. Where would I find the cat files in the Libya terrain. I know the stock Vietnamsea terrain has them in the cat extractor. But I didn't see them for the added terrains. Addon terrains, for the most part, to NOT usually need them. WW2 airfield would be the exception, but as they SHOULD only be used on pre-08 patch installs, they don't really count (gads!! did I just say that!!!) The cat pointer line in the main ini tells the engine where to look for all the 'terrain objects'. This is right out of the Libya, ver 3.0 FInal main ini: [Terrain]TerrainFullName=Libya DataFile=Libya_data.INI TargetFile=Libya_targets.INI TargetTypeFile=Libya_types.INI MovementFile=Libya_Movement.INI NationsFile=Libya_nations.INI BriefingText=Libya_Briefing.INI DogfightFile=Libya_dogfight.INI DogfightOnly=FALSE //CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat //CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat Longitude=14.0 Latitude=35.0 all the cats are listed; I don't understand why you're STILL not getting the parked planes. I've even played with upping the ParkingChance= percentage, but it don't seem to do anything wrench kevin stein Quote
warthog64 Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) Well so far no difference, I placed the Desert Airfields in Libya but no parked aircraft yet. And when you say set Groundobjects to unlimited, do you mean the line that says GroundObjectDensity? Thanks Edited March 23, 2009 by warthog64 Quote
Wrench Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 NO!!! you do NOT touch the fraking inis!!! You should have NO need to ever, EVER touch those!!! look in your Options panel, off the games main menu. THIS is what we been talking about!!!! wrench kevin stein Quote
warthog64 Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 Oh okay sorry. All I see for unlimited is the graphics options, is this what you mean? Thanks Quote
