Five in one sweep

Recommended Posts

Couldn't resist. Someone asked recently, if anyone had tried it yet. I did.

Picked a Fokker Dr.1, and put 5 S.E. 5a in advantage, in a QC.

1. attempt: survived, but ammo was out after downing three

2. attempt: got badly hit twice, engine failed out

3. attempt: got badly hit, plane wasn't manoeuverable enough, gave up

4. attempt: as 3.

5. attempt: see video

...and in a Dr.I? Your beloved Albatros must be sulking in the hangar.

Nice video: how big is the file size? And what is the max. size you can upload to YouTube? [100Mb?] I like to send FRAPS clips to friends, but find that it's easy to exceed 100Mb in very little time. [100 Mb being the limit on some other e-mail services, too.]

I think, it's 100 MB, and 10 minutes. In Windows Movie Maker, you can make

the choice of the size of final video with a slider (I think it was).

But they kicked my music out, and so I had to swap it with music, they offered.

Very impressive my friend! You are a natural predator of the skies. I myself have never been able to get more than 3, I think. I do much better in a DVII, but the DR 1 is just to quirky for me. I can't seem to get the hang of it. Obviously you have. Outstanding display of aerial combat skills.

Your exploit would make a good standing challange: On the most difficult settings, shoot down two planes in four minutes, three in six, four in eight...set the bar as high as you like.

Thanks, Hellshade

I tested her before, and found, that I can handle her best (for aiming and shooting)

when she is trimmed nose a little below zero, so that she is "hanging in the stick"-

so to say (god, what may the pilots say?)

Hauksbee, I think this were 5 planes in 5.40 minutes. But absolutely mad. No one

would do that with his real body in the crate.

Voss may have had an adrenalin rush from the kill he just made. And you see,

were it got him...

Edit: No, included the finishing off of the damaged one, it were 6.40 min rather.

And ground fire may have helped quite a bit. (We know, they can!)

I will have to try this challenge again, but with a plane I can fly. Se5a Viper vs DVIIs. The DVII is the better plane so I don't know how much luck I will have. Did you have the enemy AI set to "Ace" Olham? Perhaps we should make a rule that groundfire is set to novice and intensity is set to low too, so that it doesn't interfere with the dogfighting. This certainly could turn into a new type of "sport".

"DiD with 5 vs Me".

Yep, enemy AI was on ace; groundfire on "easy" or how it's called.

But I don't think, you will do better in a D VII. She's the better overall fighter.

But in this combat, my strength was to have an instable, extremely agile craft.

The D VII is so much more towards the S.E.5a's qualities, that it might be less

successful here. Try the Dr.1 - it's incredible, once you got it!

Dang! Now that's some fighting!

Oberleutnant Mahlo, what in Kaiser's name have you been doing in those Albatroses? The Reich needs aces like you as Fokker pilots! :salute:

(I really must start a Dr.I campaign one of these days... though it will probably feel very strange after the slow & steady Pfalz!)
