The skin mapping on that one is horrendeous, to say nothing of LOD issues.

If I may suggest, perhaps Pakos's 17PFU and MadCaddie's mods ; of which I've done a few 'upgrades' to (PF, PF SP-16 and the PFU - the first 2 with working a-a rocket pods). All available here at CA.

with a little tweeking, I think the Izumrud nose could be added as a pilot seat, as opposed to the 'weapon station' (ie: 0 strength jammer) it is now. That way, it'll show up on parked aircraft

and you have the advantage of using the stock 3W MiG-17 with all the proper skins, damage bmps/tgas, etc

You made the best on the original mod. What you say is absolutely true.

Let's try your new, good idea.

The unsolved bad, i think, will be the problem about nose numbers (not for Czech planes) ...

Paolo

The true is that we need brand new Mig-17Pf and Mig-19P/PM models to complete Warsaw Pact line ups

Agreed, the nose Bort numbers being the major draw-back on using the Pasko/MadCaddie mods. You can always do what I did; move the decal aft a bit, and reduce it in size. Won't look "all and proper", but at least something will be there.

also, I think the psd template for the Izumrud nose skin is in one or all of the mods (possibly even the EAF one for WoI). If it's not around, let me know if anyone wants it.

Well, that weren't so hard...excepting my stupid typo on missiles ... couldn't get them to load as forgot that install is using an updated (post-patch) bunypak, and the Alkalis use the RS designation, NOT the AA-1B .

don't forget to add FC "FakePilot" bits!!!!

so....

add this to the ]AircraftData[ section. This will remove the port side cannon barrels...

//moves to remove right left side gun barrels//

[Cannon_2]

in the Nose section, leave the callout for RadarStation alone.

in the Pilot section, add this:

[RadarStation]

SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT

PilotModelName=FakePilot

Position=0,0,0

SeatModelName=17PFU

SeatPosition=0.0,3.90,-0.10

in the weapons/hardpoint section use this (notice the commented OUT radar station, and renumbered hardpoints)

//[RadarStation]

the outer Alkali stations (left/right 2) MAY have the missiles a bit to far aft (approx 0.10; could read as 1.86,1.40,-0.41), you can adjust to taste.

the screenie below is what it looks like in game. I'm sure the same setting for the nose can be used on the 17PF and 17PF (SP-16).

Other than the damn bort numbers.....

I also have the 19PM without gun barrels too..

After new Mig-17PF/PFU series upload what about Mig-19P/PM?

I remember that someone was working on a full new version of that plane, but no recent news ... so an updated version of your mod should be very wellcome, I think.

Thank you for your constant attention.

Paolo :biggrin:

P.S. the nose needs some reduction ..

unfortunately, since I'm using the 17PFU nose bubble, its larger in diameter, when compared to the 19s fuselage/nose, causing the anomoly.

that mod is really a 'stop-gap' until a real 19p/pm shows up. Who know when, cause I sure don't!!! If you squint at it, from far away, in very bad light, you don't notice it too much :rofl:

did you want the data ini edits for removing the gun barrels, or a update on the PM??? There's a slight re-skin for it, removing the gun-blast deflectors on the fues sides...so mabye a full update is in order....

I have really to thank you, and especially our Polish and Czech friends, for all the kind support received.

Several pieces of the puzzle now are set (the Polish OOB is really a maze .. :crazy: ).

Some fantastic new skins are done by Soulfreak (F-84F), Hgbn (Hunter, F-86D ..), 331Killerbee & pappychksix (F-102A) and some others are in the works ....

I'm very happy of it.

I have decided to put aside (waiting a better model) Mig-19PMs and I'm still thinking about Mig-17PFs ...

I like Wrench's last upgrade of his and Pasko's mod, and the Fallout3 new plane, in Gepard version too, should need some nose upgrades .... but we can put the numbers on the nose and paint it in different colors ...

I still need some French help for some Super Mysteres and Mirages squadrons.

The same for Canadian OOB of 1964.

This is an open mod, a work in progress to reach the best possible historical care.

Let's make it togheter.

Ciao

The PF is now STOCK in SF2:E

I plan on getting my copy (hopefully!!!) next week, and working a little magic on it, and re-create the 17PFU, using the existing bits --ie, the pylon set will hopefully work without the nose bubble**!!, and the cockpit already existing from my 17PF/PF-SP16, which should work with minimal fuss

***damn! I hadn't thought about that ... the nose bubble/pylons are ONE peice!!! Crap!!! We'll need a just pylons sets for the 17PFU

Yes, please do it. :clapping:

I only made some silver skins (DDR, CZ, PL, NVIET, CHINA,HUNGARY, SOVIET) and new decal numbers for the stock new SPF-2 Mig-17PF, that fly very well with your cockpit made for the old mod.

Now we lack only a true Mig-19P/PM ....
