Heavy Bombers vs. Placement

Recommended Posts

Guest a10boar

I'm trying to learn and understand how a nation decides where to place it's bombers.Military language is not always easy to pick up but,if you get the basics of it then it helps out a bunch. So,how does a nation know where to place it's heavy bombers?

Reason i'm asking is,interested in making campaigns and/or missions for our heavy bombers (Because we love the bomb in are beloved TW series  ).Found out by reading, yes reading..thru the forums, that there are a few real deal people that really do this work for a living and lifestyle. If I could get a grain of your time and knowledge,it would go a long way to enhance WOE for us.And i'll gladly salute you for expertise. Also, very honored that there are people to put themselves in harm's way so that we can live.If subject has already been discused, would love to have a link to it location please.Thank you very much.

P.s.grammar isn't up to par, please excuse it.Never won a spelling bee and pretty sure i never will!

Well, bombers bring weight and range to the fight. In addition, they are considered HVAAs (High Value Air Assets), so there really isn't any reason to have bombers based anywhere near the front lines.

Seeing as they have the range ability, keep them as far to the rear as reasonably possible.

So,pretty much the defualt setup in WOE is correct. Was wanting to add USAF and RAF heavy bombers too. So,i need to know where to place them.Do are airbases on blue side support this in WOE?Or do I have to add a supporting airbase?

Thanks for the help. Not placing them on frontline makes sense due to range and bases become easier targets for red side, got it.

A more important consideration, is where are the Runway 4's placed (ie: LARGE_RUNWAY) in the targets ini, as they all pretty much need those.

IIRC, US B-52s would be coming form England, Iceland or even the States. Same for B-47s. Anything else (B-57, B-66) might be considered 'tactical air', and be based on the Continent and/or England

I discount the use of the Hustler, as it's service life was short, and more in the "stargetic"* nuclear role

Good! Then a requirement for correct bomber placement would be for Medium Bombers in East Germany NATO units as you sir mentioned.Great idea using the B-66 (sure i can find it alright with some homework, meaning i don't mind searching) and the B-57 is already in game.If anyone knows of a RAF Medium Bombers please reply.Using Wiki is a good tool but, know that there are RAF people here too, should make progression a lot easier.

Reason for all the questions,Escorting the bombers is something I fell in love with on WOV.Want to add that atomsphere to WOE and beyond.

Don't forget aerial refueling to increase that range even further.

There's also a recent update to Buny's Destroyer I did sometime last year; check the downloads section. I disremember if it under skins or aircraft (as its mostly decals and ini upgrades -cockpit, loadouts, etc)
