Asked for a commission of a Hurricane landing, I chose the Mk1a of Tim Elkington , No1 Sqn, comming in to pancake during the Battle of Britain. This aircraft { JX-O, P3173 } was allocated to Tim on 1st Aug 1940 { the first of nine O's } and was lost when he was shot down by Helmut Wick on the 16th Aug 1940. It had flown 22 sorties during that period.

Drawing is 2B pencil on 300gsm smooth card and it still a WIP, hurricane completed, any mistakes will just have to remain now { can't go reworking any more or the card will lose its crisp edge } but Im quite happy with it, now on to the scenery!!

Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful! No criticisms whatsoever this time! BTW the other drawing you posted is still my wallpaper.

Do you submit these to the Aerodrome.com? You should, as many of the best WWI/WWII artists have galleries there. :)

Great drawing. You are, without a doubt, a very fine draughtsman, but like so many who work in pencil, the tonal range seems to be from the middle 2/3 of the gray scale. There are virtually no deep blacks, no crisp, specular highlights. For example, the light on the underside of the wings, on the upper part of the landing gear wheel covers, is nearly the same as on the top of the fuselage. If volumn is defined by light and shadow, clipping off the far ends of the gray scale tends to flatten an object. Make a few xeroxes, get a 6B pencil, and experiment with laying in some heavy shadow.
