I decided to sign up for a campaign. The first time I started off, I selected 'turkey shoot', not knowing that I was the turkey! I didn't even take off, all of a sudden was flying along, with the TAC display showing lots of red spots. Shot down within about 5 seconds.

Had another go, enrolled yet another pilot, and decided to select a different mission this time. Selected 'Current Campaign mission - Custom missons available' PC hangs, OFF manager 'not responding'. Did this about 5 times. Decided to try something else. Can't remember exactly what mission it was, but not one of the two above.

Aeroplane should have been an FE, but the cockpit view looked a bit strange. Looked left to discover I was on the ground surrounded by Fokker Eindekkers.

Anybody got any idea what is going on here? I do want to start using the Campaign rather than mucking about in free flight and dogfight missions.

I would just start the campaign. Some of the missions in there are older, or may not have the desired effect you are looking for.

Let us know how you make out with a new pilot and a new campaign.

Jim, first you click on "pilot dossiers", there you enlist a new pilot, choose a Jasta/Squadron,

the time you want to fly in the war, and rank. Make this pilot "active" below.

Now you leave "pilot dossiers" and click on "campaign". There you will find your first mission/

briefing now. You can accept it, or click on "optional flight".

Once you have enlisted a pilot - press the campaign button in the main menu...third button from the left at the bottom.

This happens to everyone. (offmanager>missions>custom missions available>hung....)

pretty easy work around it you want to get there thou...

Offmanager>multiplayer>from the drop down select any turkey shoot, and that should take you to a window with 2 medals....multiplayer (which i know you are going to try eventually,,) and a misssions medal....clicking on the missions medal you get a flyout with 3 tabs,,,,,mission pack,,quick combat, and campaign,,( or something close to that)..

the contents of each tab in the flyout is what you have for missions in your whatif, historical,,,and training folders in your missions folder. Seems like everyone is putting any addon missions into training folder, as it makes it easier all the way around...

Note,,,this has nothing to do with campaigns,,,its just the way you get around that hang from the missions option in the off manager..

Welcome Jim

The "turkeyshoot" is a mode of "Quick Combat". You must have clicked that from the main menu... that is NOT campaign.

If you click the Missions button then you get to fly pre made missions (download some from here, or make them, or fly the test ones) but "current campaign mission" aint going to work as you have not yet flown in campaign!

So, do exactly as Winder says and that is how you get to campaign. Leave the "Missions" button alone for now.

Also if you do fly Quick Combat, don't choose turkey shoot, as yes you may well be a turkey in that one ;)

Pol,

Thats interesting,,,,I don't think anyone I have run into has completly understood the purpose of that mission drop down from the "active pilot for duty" screen.

But can you explain in more detail, just how the "Current Campaign Mission - Custom Missions Available" option ties into a pilots campaign?

Just curious

I'll get the hang of the software sooner or later....

To be accurate, the Campaign must tell you what mission to fly with no options. The squadrons were mostly allocated missions from above from what I have read.

Hey there Uncleal, I love that bit about how you get to pick which side you die for. You come out with some classics, and how true it is. Made me laugh.

Hey, Jim

Here's the way again.

When you start the sim, you see several words at the bottom of the screen. There are:

Leave - Pilot Dossiers - Campaign - Missions (and more)

Now, you click "Pilot Dossiers" and create a pilot there. Then, you leave.

Now, you are at the start screen again and click "Campaign". And from here, you get into your first real

campaign flight. You can reject a flight route by clicking "optional flight", or you can click "advance time",

to get a different mission type. (For this , manual "time advance" must be allowed in "Workshop").

Hope, you'll get in there now - your comrades are waitning.

Cheers; Olham

Edit/PS: if you have more than one pilot, you must activate the one you want to fly with, in "Pilot dossiers"

Sittingduck, that option it simply flies whatever the last campaign mission was, it doesn't generate campaign missions. Nothing to see move along ;)
