Snap views don't always work?

I'm trying to figure out why my snap views don't always work. You know, the keypad '2' to look down, '8' to look up, etc.

 

It seemed they only worked when I had a plane targeted. But sometimes they do work when I don't have a plane targeted. Sometimes they don't work at all.

 

Any suggestions what I could be doing wrong here?

 

I've been spending lots of time going into the keyboard list and then trying stuff out. This 'intermittant snap view' thing is about the last thing I'm having a problem with.

Try to remember which view mode you are in, possibly some don't allow it. Also make sure numlock is on.

also,,if you have track ir,,,they wont work if your trackir is enabled..at least not on mine....

 

so i have f12 and f9 mapped to my stick for my track ir

This happens when I've padlocked a plane which has crashed. If I 'undo' the padlock, everything works fine again.
