Barkhorn1x 14 Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) So, I just ordered a new Logitech Force 3D Pro to replace my old stick that went south. Should be here by Thursday. Now, it is one of those "twisty sticks" for rudder action. But I have CH pedals so don't need - or really want - that feature. The question is; Can the stick be locked into position so it does not twist? Anyone use one that can tell me? Thanks. Barkhorn1x 14 Posted July 28, 2009 The stick itself is NOT stopped from moving, it's the same for ALL twisty sticks In controls: You Delete the Rudder Function for the stick It'll still move, but it won't do anything Well, that's something I guess. Hopefully, the action will be a bit stiff and - as I don't plan to twist it intentionally - will stay that way.
Barkhorn1x 14 Posted July 28, 2009 Depending on how you've adjusted the dead zone of your existing twisty stick, this could be the first time you bank hard to the left, without a small amount of Rudder movement Ah...but my existing stick - a big ol' Wingman Force - had no twisty functionality. The Saitek X52 Flight Control System DOES indeed have a Twist function lock, so you CAN physically prevent it twisting.
Schnitzel von Krumm 0 Posted July 30, 2009 This is a bit of a tangent, but has anyone with pedals ever converted the twist function of the stick from rudder control to a left/right head turn view function? That might make it useful again, I mean for those of us who don't (yet) have TrackIR.
Barkhorn1x 14 Posted July 31, 2009 Got my new stick - back in the air after about an hour and a 1/2 of tuning. Had to disable the rudder axis for the joystick as Uncleal stated. All is well now that I actually got my first victory.

Schnitzel von Krumm, Homeboy does modify Joysticks, and if anyone knows how to convert the twisty movement of the stick to a "look left"/"look right" function, it's him. (But seriously...just get trackIR. Worth every cent.)

Actually, I was just thinking of changing the control assigments in the joystick config so that instead of turning the plane by rudder, the twist control would pan the view left and right. It might be more hassle than it's worth, though, so I was wondering if anybody had tried it, and what their opinion was. I think you're right about TrackIR, though. I'll likely order that soon.
