Quick question for newbie thread

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

Where is this wonderful magical graphical editor that allows you to tweak the settings.

I found the config with the 5 sliders and the resolution but where is the other stuff at?

Also Im accessing CFSQC through the workshop and when i hit go to field. I get an error that says something about populating the field. But the QC seems fine....but then again I have nothing to gauge it against since this is my first week of OFF, so im not sure if I'm missing anything.

Hi,,

Im assuming you are getting to your sliders thru cfs3config in your obd directory..

gallery_45808_317_1405.jpg

click on the "window" above the sliders....

the options you want to set are "overides" and "texture info" ,,,these are where you will find the settings unlcleal described, or any other setting recommendations you might come across in the forums'

When I first got OFF, it took me two or three days to realize I needed to click that "Window" label! Sheesh!! I felt REALLY stupid when I finally realized how to do it.

I haven't stopped hating that CFS3CONFIG thing since. A close second is the horrible joystick controller interface.

Boy, I gotta stop letting posts like this set me off like that! I'll go take my meds now.

Ahhhhh the window tab.

Now I see. Thanks.

So I avoid the QC and just do it all at the hanger page? Thats good to know.

How will you initialy confront the enemy

Clic ON . . FIGHTER

You get to choose the type of aircraft that trys to Kill You

On the right side is HANGER . .a drop down menu, that speaks for itself

PS . . Those Rockets belong on a P47 both in accuracy and destuctive power, but they're alot of Fun jump.gifuser_online.gifreport.gif

Thanks much!!

Im having an intermitent problem now.

First off every time I "go to field" I get a error message that says something about a problem populating the airfield. but it didnt seem to bother anything in QC

Now Im getting that message in campaign followed most times by another error at the WWI world splash screen that says "failed to load mission file". The only way out of this was to start another pilot. is this common, do i have a missing file somewhere?

If i am wrong about this,,hopefully someone will correct me...

Think ive read in the past,,that these messages are more annoyances,,than actuall problems..

If you go back to your cfs3config...and in overides,,,there are two settings,,,disable warnings boxes,,and disable advisory messages...if you click these,,,i think the messages will stop..

if i understand it right,,the other setting disable simulation warnings is for the things you see in the game like "near stall" and hits on your plane,,,but,,could be wrong about that...

I believe it for the populating he air field message but the failed to load mission error would not allow me to advance to the mission. and the only way to get it to not do that was by switching to another pilot/campaign. so i figured maybe I'm missing something Ill see if its that pilot in particular o9r the squad I chose which was either Jasta 30 or 69.

What year are you starting? If 1916, try starting your career a few months later or try another squadron.

I did start in 1916. It seems okay with this pilot at the moment. I am three missions in at Jasta 30. Haven't fired a shot yet but its been fun flying and seeing the NME.

I also had a good time filling out the flight log with a rather well written paragraph  on what happened each flight...but it didn't save. So when I went back to look at my log, all my flourishy role playing BS was gone. :dntknw:

Can it be saved?

also what's the difference between scenery and terrain?

I'm not sure myself about the difference between scenery and terrain. Try setting one to one and the other to four and then switching settings to see if you notice any difference.

There are some mentions of this in the FAQ. Also CFS3QC is hidden away for a reason, we don't control much in there. Use OFF QC or better still campaign, or if you need a quick fix wait for the new patch with new quick mode.

In Phase II we had an actual control in Workshop. But now as then, if your installation starts to go south, you'll never know it, till it happens

Are you saying you think I should reinstall it all?

Its all fresh, brand new built pc, new fresh install of XP Pro

New fresh install of CFS and BHaH

these popup messages started happening almost immediately when I started using the workshop QC.

This other intermittent problem with the mission file not loading error seems to happen whenever they want to give me a fun mission, balloon busting, attacking aerodrome etc. both of those were consistent errors, I would have to leave, bring up a new pilot, take him into QC exit that, change back to my campaign pilot, start campaign again, and then I would have a patrol mission or something and it would play fine. Incidentally I have flown 6 mission and have not seen combat yet. every mission has been a patrol. I started in january 25th 1917 in Jasta 30 flying Halbs

Not the whole ball of wax No . . .I'd uninstall BHaH, search for all files that contain 'Over Flanders Fields' Delete same.

Then do a SECOND search including your Hidden Folders, a couple always show up, failure to nail those puppies, whatever your problem was, it's sure to return again, and again, and again. Reinstall BHaH and stay AWAY from CFS3 QC. . .It would appear that's what caused your problem in the first place . . .Sooo who knew

You Can do all your Configuration from Workshop . . after Config has done it's thing . . it's all auto. Clic on File. . . then custom settings . . they will tell you the world will end . . soo clic OK. Whatever you seek is before you . . merely Clic on Window . . and make your selection.

The Only thing missing is Controls. START a campaign mission fly for 3 minutes, then press escape, the Hanger Menu appears before you, take what you need

You need to be around a while, as the developers speak in riddles. But I do believe CFS3 QC is destined to become a feature of the past, soon

I did as you asked and now I still get the cant populate airfield error (not sure if it even means anything) but now when I do QC through the workshop I go to field and the plane explodes. then anytime I make a change there a new plane explodes in place of the old one. Its rather annoying. Is this normal? It didnt do this before. did I miss a hidden file somewhere.

You've got me by the short and curlies, as I run XP. And as such I've never seen those errors. But having your plane explode normally means your Sliders are too low

Other than that all I can say, this needs a Developer

Sliders too low?? really?

I used to get the can't populate airfield message. I think it had something to do with the pilot I had at the time. Since he kicked the bucket the message has gone away. The message didn't seem to mean anything at all as the airfield looked ok to me.
