Best career yet (luck involved)

Recommended Posts

So I started flying for Jasta 10 in 2/1917 (thanks for tip Olham). I am now 5 missions in and have 8 confirmed kills with a total of 13 claims, I have had two flights where I have gotten 5 kills. I think this Alb. DII should be outlawed, now I know why they called it Bloody April! The two MG's absolutely shred the N17's and Spad VII I run into if you get close enough. My last spad vii encounter the top wing flew off and the pilot leapt to his death (nice touch OBD).

The lucky portion was getting caught low and slow on my third mission engaging 5 N17 with my 4 wingmen. I shot 1 down and found my self alone with 2 N17. They latched on and I could not shake them because of no speed and height, once I was damaged that was it. I set down East of Paris (deep behind lines) and the landing gear broke. At 120% DiD I thought, well thats it. It sent me to debrief and said I was captured and escaped after 20 days! Need to be real careful with this pilot!

I think you'll be delighted when Jasta 10 gets the Alb. D.III - then it gets even better!

For a real challenge, try to stick with Jasta 10 when they start flying the Pfalz D.III. Then you won't have it so easy anymore, but if anything, it can be even more rewarding when you accomplish something.

Luck. Anypilot in OFF that has made it to 3 missions has seen some degree of luck. Thank god for luck.

That will be the last time I post good progress on a career as it is a jinx. I was jumped by an N17 on the flight after I posted and tried to set down on an uneven hill behind our trenches. Rolled right and I swore I heard some fat lady singing from the British lines.

Frustrating, but thats how it happens. Momentary inattention and you are dead. Well, time for another go! :good:

Seems to happen that way every time. I like your spirit, back at 'em and give 'em 'ell!

Fliegenhund, you may also try Jasta 28w, Wasquehal, May 1917.

For that Jasta, you can even download one of my skins with a yellow/black tail.

I was shot down too today, with Jasta 10. But I'll start another one tomorrow.

I am desperately trying to bring up Creaghorn's patience with kills, and care more

about my own safety - so far invain (Lol!)

Bah! You MUST crow about your accomplishments, even if they're merely surviving, wounded, after some horrific battle in which all of your friends died. Trust me, as a PTSD-sufferer of long standing, talking about it is the only way to sleep at night  .

You can get around the jinx quite easily. Instead of posting in the main forum area, post it in the "Reports from the Front" sticky. Change the names, dates, and places if you feel that's necessary to throw the jinx off the scent. But I find that this isn't necessary, provided you write the story in 1st person and in a tone like you're very glad still to be alive. Acting like a pennetant, knocking on wood, and drinking heavily between massive cigarette binges--that's how to wins favor from the Dark Gods. Once they know you're dedicated to poisoning yourself, they concentrate on fresh meat and let you live on until your lungs and/or liver fail  .

For inspiration, I particularly recommend Ohlam's reports in that sticky from his 1918 Albatros campaign, before he knew about player altitude and flight density settings :haha: . DAMN, each one of them stirred up the real ghosts of my past, so that I had to stay up all night drinking with them. I wish I could capture that sort of "All Quiet on the Western Front" angst in my own reports.

Frustrating, but thats how it happens. Momentary inattention and you are dead. Well, time for another go! :good:

I find that I die a lot even when I'm at the top of my game. It doesn't require a loss of concentration; when the Dark Gods decide it's your turn, a stray bullet from half a mile away will hit you between the eyes. If you're lucky, that is. Most times, it hits your fuel tank :diablo: .

Getting into the end of the Fokker Scourge. Sky now full of Nieuports and DH2s and other nasty bits of work that make my life hair-raising. A few missions ago at about 1500 feet I was shot down IN FLAMES by some RNAS hot shot ace and SURVIVED.

Launchbury I am truly impressed by your screen. Surviving that long in the EIII at 120% is no easy task. I have tried twice and as soon as I get low and slow in that plane, I lose it in a turn and bite the dust. Good luck, keep it up!

Amazing indeed, Launchbury! I have never dared yet to pick the Eindecker for campaigns.

I wish you all the luck you need. Your shooting accuracy of 28 % is very impressive.

Please show more of him, if he lasts longer. And next time click on "view claims" - the left

side with pilot pic will remain, on the right will be your claims texts.
