rjw 48 Posted October 7, 2009 I just installed Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Padals, disabled ailerons, and elevator in for this device in "Mine" file. Also disabled rudder on "MS Force Feedback 2" joystick in "Mine" file. I now noticed that when flying straight and level, if I let go of the joystick and apply left rudder the aircraft turns and banks left instead of doing a flat turn left. Likewise right rudder results in the same effect. How do I stop the banking effect without having to apply joystick ailerons? I can't seem to achieve a flat turn! Look forward to some help with this if anyone has the answer. Best Regards;

Best Regards; I use Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals with a Saitek X52 flight controller, and the only "modification" I had to perform was to remove the "toe brake" function. I can perform flat yaw turns. If you DID just add them by plugging them in, perhaps you do need to install the software. Perhaps it is the joystick... Did you remove the "toe brake" function of the rudder pedals? They do have an aileron "connection" and need to be disabled. Start in Quick Combat with a rear view of your aircraft and without starting your engine, operate your rudders and APPLY YOUR TOE BRAKES. Observe movement of your rudder, elevators and ailerons. Does operating your toe brake cause ailerons and elevator to operate? I think that might be your problem. Pause > drop down menu > Controls > then select the drop down menu under Saitek x-52 FCS joystick. That gives you the Saitek rudder pedals control system. Then, to make it easier, select the "control surfaces" drop down menu...that limits the number of choices available. You'll see there's a choice "x axis", a "y axis", and (I think) "rudder axis". You delete the x axis and the y axis and then save that profile as "Mine" and voila! No toe brake function. (BTW you don't need toe brakes in this sim. There are no brakes on WW1 aircraft. You have to cut your engine off). Edited October 7, 2009 by Check Six
rjw 48 Posted October 7, 2009 Thanks; I did everything you recommended prior posting this problem. so I am rather confused as to why you have no problem. As I said , If the joystick is left untouched, while flying straight and level, and I apply left or right rudder, my plane banks left or right without any aileron movement. I have verified this by viewing flight path from outside the cockpit in rear view mode. rjw 48 Posted October 7, 2009 Folks; I think my problem is resolved. I received some excellent knowledgeable experiences from "Olham" in the OFF General Discussion forum under the subject "Got my CH Pedals...." It seems that the flight model for the DR1 will not allow for a 180 degree flat turn. The most you can get is 30-40 degrees. Olham posted a vid demonstrating this. I now suspect I have no problem with my flight pedals and that it is the flight model that is limiting me. Maybe the flight model will be updated in the future. Thanks for all the assistance folks. I always find something new and intructive in this forum. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=44446
rjw 48 Posted October 7, 2009 There is an error on credit due in my previous reply included below. It was Lou and not Olham who provided the instructional vid and a knowledgeable explanation. Check Six 2 Posted October 8, 2009 rjw, To confirm your assertation that all is well with yout rudder pedals, and it is only the flight model limitations of the Dr.1 that mean you can't do a flat turn... Try quick combat, select a very stable mount such as the Sopwith 1 1/2 strutter, and take her up for a free flight. YOu should be able to get her facing North for example, straight and level. Remove your hands from the joystick, and apply full right or left rudder, and she should yaw around to face South (eventually). You might need to trim her a little to get her to fly level...Sopwiths like to climb.
rjw 48 Posted October 8, 2009 Check Six; not possible to do flat turn. must apply aileron slightly to prevent banking. Rudder pedals alone generate a progressive bank with the Yaw. This condition has been verified by some other forum users. rjw, To confirm your assertation that all is well with yout rudder pedals, and it is only the flight model limitations of the Dr.1 that mean you can't do a flat turn...
