+russouk2004 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 While I like the game, more and more as I play it..I am slightly vexed by the hype......Having seen the promo stuff of "In game, gameplay video, etc etc"...im just wondering ,did I buy the right OFP 2?... I think this doesnt do... "exactly like it says on the tin" hopefully it will be patched to resemble it.. I wondered why it retailed in my asda for a meagre £22.71p (minus my staff discount of 10%).. +suhsjake Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 They are trying to compete with ArmA2. It is retailed here in the US for $39.99. In my opinion was way to over-hyped and was built for the console. Quote
JediMaster Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I understand the idea, to make a game that isn't as hard as Arma2 for the uninitiated. The consensus seems to be, however, that they missed the mark. I've not tried it myself yet (I'm waiting for a demo), but it does sound more like a game designed for consoles that also is on PC. PinkPanther Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I bougth OFP2 a few days back and it is good but not great. The mission editor is fun to play with though and I see with a little modding and patching this game can have a long life on my HDD. Quote
+suhsjake Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Some addons makers in the ArmA2 community have already started building the exact island with more features and there's already a PLA mod already in the works. Kind of ironic. Read more here Quote
Vigilant Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Like JediMaster I'am waiting for a demo. But from what I've read in comparison with ArmA2- it's more arcade with less HW demands. In other aspects they are remarkably similar - initial release is buggy, SP is short, you'll get to use only limited part of included vehicles and weapons, mission difficulty and AI preformance varies greatly. The island looks a bit barren (the real Kiska is probably more so ) Don't know how easy it is to mod(and how big community will form around it), if you can control more than the 4 man squad, does the engine support more than 1 gunner per vehicle(helicopter door gunners, pintle mounted MG on tanks etc.)? PinkPanther Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 The AI is very dumb in OFP2. My squad members were unloading all their rounds into a disabled tank that still had a live enemy AI inside it. They all just stood there continually firing at the tank with rifle bullets. Don't the developers know that rifle rounds can't penetrate a tank? Quote
