OT: Starting a new drawing..need some help

Just about to start a new drawing, gonna try out colour pencils, but need a little help from the experts in here. Could you folks cast an eye over the DR1 I've drawn and spot anything that looks odd?? and has anyone got a colour scheme I could try out..the photo I have shows an olive green kind of mottling ..was this common? Many thanks

 

 

sorry for the poor photo, but it was taken indoors and in artificial light :)..but you'll get the idea.

Looks very good at this point. One small thing perhaps is the Aileron extension on the left wing? To my eye it seems to be "bent" down alittle bit, actually curved rather than a straight angle. With the right airleon up the left is down, just that bit on the end os a bit off. IMO. The green brushed pattern was factory and probably the most common. There are notable exceptions and variations. Depends on what you are looking for. These crate were part of the "flying cicus" and as such many had fantastic color schemes.

Drawing looks good so far Puff, I really like your artwork. The only thing that I can see that looks "odd" is the wingspans. It appears that all the wings are equal span, whereas the middle wings should be slightly longer than the bottom ones and the top one slightly longer than the middle ones. Other than that it looks great.

It's a nice drawing, but your perspective for shortening is off.. the right side is too long, not receding with distance so it makes it look like the wings on the right are longer then the ones on the left and the plane looks unbalanced, not symmetrical.

Looking good. Your kind of artist probably know this trick, but i have found very useful turn the paper and look it in light. You see it mirror image. That way you see all perspective and little errors that eye´s not necessarily see.

Right on.. a standard painters trick, in almost every studio, is to have a mirror handy, because you get blinded to things some times. But after working for awhile, if you look at a reflection of your work you suddenly can see where problems are. Also, putting something away for awhile, then looking at it a few days later, you have a fresh look at it and can see where you need improvement, or where mistakes are.

The diagonal wingstruts near the cockpit: the right ones need to be moved left;

the left ones are much closer to the guns. As Arto says: mirror it, and you'll see it.

 

The tailskid should be more bent like a hook at the end, I'd say.
