Italian and southern europe air forces

The new mods and campaigns available here are more than awesonme,(like NF-4+) ore future releasases under development.

But in most of them I sadly notice that Italian air Force,or Spanish Air Force (Greek and Turkish are safe cause they will be the divas of upcoming anatolian terrain and future campaigns).

But why Italy and Spain are even not included?

We are Nato partners too,in past years we had the same air power of other countries (and maybe greater),we had an important role over the mediterranean sea,plus we were home of many NATO squadrons (UK,Germany,France,Usaf,US Navy,USMC....)during Balkan crisis (the only one european conflict fought after WW2),we had all for a campaign I think.

I think it's time to involve Italy in something as a NATO partner.

I and other guys are working on an A.M.I. mod to cover this gap,(for SF-2).

I would be very much interested in a balkans mod for sf2:e.

I think the reason why Italy and other countries were left out is that sf2:e is based on the german terrain and only covers north-easter europe.

As far as I know somebody was developing a nice balkan terrain and that could definitely be a nice addition to nato fighters or even better a stand alone mod

 

I can't wait to fly the f-104 ami :)

IIRC, Column5 was working on a Balkan Terrain for NF5 in order to provide a place for AMI, EdA, USN and USMC, both as the southern flank of the operations of the cold war (62,68,79,86) and

the T.O for the operations Deny Flight, Delliberate Force and Allied Force, however, it is uncertain if it will ever be finished. The terrain on Iberia-Magreb is, AFAIK, frozen (no, i don´t mean seasoned)

 

On the Lybian terrain i had some "scenario" in wich a fictional ATAF defended the Italian soil, including a variety of aircraft from the air forces wich, as you mentioned, didn´t play a significant role

in the campaigns, including Hornets, Mirages, Phantom, F-104S, F-16s and Tornado ADV from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Turkey

Well......... our duty, in case of war were to resist at least 24Hours to the Warsaw Pact assault movement....so the ODB were deployed

mainly in the North East near the Yugoslavian border...

 

Otherwise, our Navy and Air Force were committed to cover the supply convoy to the East Mediterranean Allied. One of the problem is WoX platform.....Our country is just like a Big Carrier just in the middle of the mediterranean sea but he Aeronaval War isn't the best field in this Combat Flight Sim Suite and the Italian North East Terrain, with the Alpes miss too....anyway we're here waiting for news......

I had an idea wich could be of use: Spain and Italy have a joint command, SIAF, with the marine expeditionary units of both countries as fast reaction force. It could be possible an scenario in wich

Portuguese, Spanish and Italian Air forces deployed a variety of squadrons to a troubled area, such as a NATO or UN intervention out there. Harriers, EF2000, F-16, F-18... we got assets for it
