throttle for OFF

I got a snall bonus from work and was thinking of getting a throttle...

 

How many of you use throttle's for OFF, and which do you use?

 

 

 

I dont want to strap it to the desk, so the throttle quadrant, while seemingly the best option, isnt too practical for me...tho I could make it work. I found a saitek PZ45 new for $50.

(is there a difference from the regular saitek flight controls throttle quadrant, and the pz45?)

 

 

The saitek X52 looks great but comes with the joystick, which I dont need (have 2 MS FF2 sticks)...and is about $150.

 

Are there any other options for throttles that you recommend?

or should I be happy with the saitek pz45 for $50?

Whatever you do dont get the CH throttle because it s u c k s. I would get that one you see for fifty bucks and call it a day!

I have a Saitek X-52 and find it's great for OFF. There are those that will say "I don't understand how you can use the same joystick to fly an F-16 and a Camel" (you know who you are ). Its only problem is the lack of Force Feedback.

 

The Saitek has a shedload of buttons and is a breeze to program them. It has trim wheels, hat switches, seperate throttle, programmable toggle switches, an LED display to time your flights. I have all these functions on my joystick. When you're used to them, it'd be hard to go back to taking your eyes off the prize, and look at your keyboard. I also have 18 programmable keys on my Logitech G-19 Ketboard, and because of the great number and ease of using the joystick buttons/slides/wheels/toggles, I still haven't programmed any of the keyboard buttons for OFF.

 

 

 

Try one out, or save up and buy one. I think you'll like it. (You could maybe use the throttle with some of your other joysticks, or sell them on eBay).

FFB is the absolute must for me, and I have 2 of the greatest sticks ever made: MS FFB2

 

I have a throttle on the stick, but want an alternative to using the KB keys for the mixture and radiator.

 

If there was another FFB stick out there, I'd seriously consider it...

I guess each to his own. I have the CH Pro Throttle (Fighter stick and pro pedals) and find they work just fine in all my flight simulators.

They are a bit more expensive, but I have found they hold up over the long haul so probably are not more expensive than replacing equipment every two years.

I have used the Saitek HOTAS (but not the most recent one) and found it was also good and easier to program than the CH equipment.
