GeorgeBoles 0 Posted January 4, 2010 Good Evening, All. Short question: Is it possible to install two instances of OFF: either in BHAH or HITR form. This is because I am a compulsory fiddler and would like to examine the differences between the newer and later patches, DM, etc. Also to investigate where things like Ammunition and Fuel load have gone ... although I could be looking in the wrong places for those! The setup appears to only allow one instance of the game. Or is it all just too difficult and should I best leave it alone? Regards, George.
Von Paulus 8 Posted January 4, 2010 Yes I think it's possible. I've tried it for a while, but I ended up in trouble and had to uninstall and install it again. I didn't understand why, AFAIK Most configuration files are in the Users/MyDocuments folders. Playing safe now, I've two installations; one for XP another for Win7. Bandy 3 Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) I was wondering the same thing because I'm having issues getting HitR to run as well as stock BHaH, so I deleted the install and am playing BHaH only now... I know CFS3 can have multiple installs (for various era campaigns, ETO, MAW, PTO...) but only through a custom install applet appropriately named MultiCFS3 designed for this purpose. I'm not a programmer but I suspect the code is CFS3 specific since many files/folders are different, but you could try looking under the hood. Reference and links to it are HERE, scroll down to the ETO 1.0 and 1.2 install guide... Edited January 4, 2010 by Bandy
+Polovski 460 Posted January 4, 2010 You can store a backup of the folder maybe, but running two won't work as the same registry keys etc are used by both. Von Paulus 8 Posted January 4, 2010 What if you have XP on one drive, and Windows 7 on another with a dual boot?...that should work shouldnt it? It should. And worked for a few weeks. Then, I don't know why, I had to unninstall it and install all over again. This time 2 installations, it's only a few GB's, why bother...

Interesting idea. plug_nickel (Al)
