My brother and I went to the Boston Wine Expo today

We had a great time, tasting about 80 wines

He's the real expert and the exhibitors quickly realize it

It's a great learning experience

Usually 1 wine stands above the rest

Not this time, but we had outstanding wines from Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, and the Loire Valley

Chateau Neuf du Pape and Boisson were par excellance

Not too many US producers, but maybe it's the economy

We're closing the evening with some Sauvignon Blanc & Cabernet Sauvignon ...Hic drinks_drunk.gif

Truly great region of the world

I'm partial to Sonoma Cabs

Has anyone checked out Costco's wine shop?

They have Jordan Cab for $42

...and Cloudy Bay Sauv Blanc for $19

Killer Wines at great prices

Even their Kirkland Sparklings are pretty good!

Would have checked out more but we had to zip

Sehr gut Herr Duce! I must admit my favorite vineyard is Wilhelm Friedrick Gymnasium von Trier. Old vineyard back to something like 1543 or there abouts.

Old is the way to go

We had some Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel that was great

Average age of the vines were 80 years

Old vines produce less fruit, concentrating the flavor

Ah Duce,

Surely you have heard of the Okanagan Valley, home of the twice winner for Best Chardonnay in the World? Delicious Pinot Gris, Syrah (Shiraz to some), Merlot, and Riesling. Yes, with one of the better wineries only 3 km away, I can almost stagger down for a 3rd bottle if neededblink.gif

The reds are getting better, but the clilmate suits whites.

However, the absolute best place for purchasing wines is .......................the UK. Why you say? They get wines from everywhere, whereas if in France, you will only really get French wines. I have seen most European Nations, Okanagan, Niagra, Californian, Chilean, and Argentinian wines for sale in UK shops.

Cheers,

When I was stationed in Germany in the 70's in North Bavaria there was a white wine called Frankonia (Not a brand name but a type, like a Merlot is a type of red) Wine I drank any chance I could get. I have not found it anyplace in the US. My wife and I drank my last bottle 27 years ago. I guess the Germans are keeping it to themselves. Anyone know of a German Wine importer?

Can't say that I've heard of that region

But I Googled it and found a winery list

Cedar Creek and Tantalus sound familiar so maybe I have sampled a glass or 3
