Olham 164 Posted March 25, 2010 (edited) To be honest, this isn't even my idea - I believe, it was Creaghorn, who brought it up some time ago. But you may have missed it, so here it is again: Without TAC and Labels, it is often very hard to trace your enemy. Especially when they fly lower than you, you will often fail to see them; or you only see some of them, while others may be sneaking up on you. That's why it is useful to press "Attack" every now and then, so you can see, where your wingies go. Also you may press "Help", which will make your wingman1 attack any opponent close behind you. Particularly, when you believe, you got them all or they ran away after a fight, and you want to climb out and travel on, you should do that. Press "return" for your wingmen to unite with you, and then "Attack" or "Help" again. That way you may be sure, there is no one crawling up on you from below behind. It also works in hazy weather or among clouds - the wingies may fly towards a nearby enemy after the "Attack" order, before you even found them. This is no cheating - it only supplies you with what the RL flight leader had: several pairs of eyes in addition to his own. Creaghorn 10 Posted March 25, 2010 good idea but not from me . would be a cool feature if in future phases the leader (real leader, so no need to lead always despite having lower rank) would shoot a flare (actually i've seen it once or twice in BHAH from enemy AI's that they shot up flares before attacking us. but all at once, not only one), or wiggle with wings or firing a burst to get audible attention, befor attacking . same goes when giving the sign to regroup again. Olham 164 Posted March 25, 2010 Yes, that would surely look great! But to mention a positive improvement we got with BHaH, and which is an immense help, when flying Full DiD: the Flak puffs ! Don't know, what I would do without them. They really saved my life very often.
Morris 2 Posted March 25, 2010 Maybe you can shoot the flare accidentally into ur own plane and go down in flames. That will be another way of losing ur pilot.
Olham 164 Posted March 25, 2010 That's why they had the flare cartridges mounted outside the cockpit - they were too dangerous to go off from summer heat or a tracer hit.

Morris 2 Posted March 26, 2010 Dear Rickitycrate, I have lost two pilots from JASTA 6 the last few days during mid air collisions with the enemy. I would love to have a flare gun to shoot at the enemy to get out of the way during combat. Cheers m
