In all seriousness, this demonstrates what's wrong with our society.

 

This guy should not be a defendant at all. He didn't do anything wrong. Someone harassing the s**t out of you about a very sensitive topic deserves to get the snot beat out of him. Period.

 

Compounding that, part of the reason it's such a sensitive issue in the first place is this whole taboo about nudity that we have. Taken to the extremes we have (thank you oh so very much puritains and victorians), it's just not something you see often in your life. Pretty much your own, and porn stars, unless you're in the military (or gay). So the typical guy has no clue what "normal" is, and has no basis for comparison. All he sees are porn stars and it is inevitable that insecurity is bred. If we were less uptight about it, it wouldn't be such an issue.

The whole situation is ridiculous. But what did you expect when the Feds made TSA federal employees. You're going to see more stupid stunts like this as well as more stupid arrests and lawsuits.

Well, hauling off an decking someone, laying them out, that's fine if they try to cop a feel on your girl or to take your wallet or spit on you. But this is a little worse for most people. So I can see it resulting in more, but yeah, I don't totally disagree with the concept you're getting at.

 

But there is a flip side - what if one punch wasn't enough and the guy got up and then the beat down happened? And let's not forget that even punching someone in the face who deserves it results in criminal and civil charges these days. So that leads to people holding things in and trying not to react. When they are finally pushed past that edge, they explode and go off the deep end. I think that is a factor here.

Agree 100%! There are occassions where some folks need a good knock in the block when they haven't even presented any kind of physical threat, but just by being a jack***. The folks getting prayed up by these morons are supposed to exhibit a level of "tolerance" that I find to be a f'n joke! And when they finally had enough and do what they feel is necessary to get rid of the ***hole, they're treated as the worse criminals ever. They're just people, trying to put up with the BS as much as possible, but at some point, that BS is going to get too heavy to carry. The real problem is that nobody is looking out for this guy who is getting bullied. Somebody should have stepped in at the begining and told Orono to stop if the victim wasn't going to. But nobody does that these days. They're all concerend about themselve. What a bunch of f'n losers.
