+MigBuster Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Was probably more impressed by the credit card sized solar powered calculator I had about 25 years ago. Why has it taken them so long to get a powered glider airbourne - and whats the likelyhood of an airliner ever doing 500kts on Solar power?

The trick was getting one that could have batteries strong enough and charged enough at nightfall to last until sunrise. In the past, the solar cells didn't contribute enough and the batteries wouldn't make it thru the night.
