+Alphadelta Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) In Combat-Helo, pilots will be able to exit their Apache. This will provide the player the option to escape and evade, navigate back to base or await pick-up. To make these options viable we will provide the pilot with a set of survival items. We plan to include: A compass A flare gun/signal flare Coloured Smoke grenades A service pistol or Sub-machine gun Tactical beacon radio These are items we presume a pilot carries so we're interested to know if anyone has a complete list of what an Apache pilot carries as part of his survival kit? Here is the complete compass. CSEL (Combat Survivor/Evader Locator) MS-2000 IR strobe Gyrojet pen flare Cheers Edited July 18, 2010 by Alphadelta Quote
+Dave Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Now that is what I call a cool feature.A sim within a sim. Quote
+ST0RM Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 A typical survival vest will contain at least these items: Mk.124 or Mk.13 flares MS-2000 strobe light covert chem stick (IR) Gyro-jet pen gun flares AN/PRC-112 survival radio GPS EVC map water pouches whistle Beretta M9 9mm pistol The Army may configure slightly different, but CENTCOM has a required item list. -Storm Quote
Slartibartfast Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Outstanding... you get shot down and you can become Wyatt Earp... Ooops sorry wrong Movie... FOTI if you need to know... Quote
+Alphadelta Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 Awesome! For what sim is this? Combat-Helo. A new series of Combat chopper sims starting with the AH-64D Longbow. Our development blog can be seen here. http://combathelo.blogspot.com/ And if you're a facebook user. http://www.facebook.com/CombatHelo A typical survival vest will contain at least these items: Mk.124 or Mk.13 flares MS-2000 strobe light covert chem stick (IR) Gyro-jet pen gun flares AN/PRC-112 survival radio GPS EVC map water pouches whistle Beretta M9 9mm pistol The Army may configure slightly different, but CENTCOM has a required item list. -Storm Fantastic! Thanks for the list. A quick Google reveals that the MK.124 is Navy and the MK.13 is Marine. I presume the army has something similar? Cheers Quote
+Dave Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 AD ST0RM used to be USAF life support, before he was a boom operator. Pick his brain well my friend. Well not after he has been tanking himself up though. Quote
+JediMaster Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Is that a Cap'n Crunch whistle to let you make free long distance calls in enemy territory? Quote
+ST0RM Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) AD, Yes, the Mk.124 and Mk.13 are USN/USMC, but the DoD has pushed these two flares throughout. The Mk.13s should be nearly out of service by now. I'll be happy to assist if you need it. -S P.S. Our helo crews would also fly with a HEEDS bottle if the mission was overwater. It's like a mini diving cylinder w/mouthpiece. Edited July 14, 2010 by ST0RM Quote

Well not after he has been tanking himself up though. Rgr that. Over at simhq we have a similar thread going and a NG UH-60 ALSE technician gave us a ton of info so there's not much left we need to know about the subject Is that a Cap'n Crunch whistle to let you make free long distance calls in enemy territory? You're presuming the people of Herat have phones to phreak! AD, Yes, the Mk.124 and Mk.13 are USN/USMC, but the DoD has pushed these two flares throughout. It's like a mini diving cylinder w/mouthpiece. The MK-124 it is then. You wouldn't happen to have a photo showing the complete label? If not, no worries, I can duplicate this label onto both 'sides'. http://www.specwarge...ear-MK124-1.jpg Other than a canal there's no water on our terrain but we'll keep the HEEDS bottle in mind for future projects. Cheers and thanks for the help Edited July 15, 2010 by Alphadelta Quote

+Alphadelta Posted July 18, 2010 Author Posted July 18, 2010 (edited) Would anyone happen to know the format for a distress call request/response? Something along the lines of: Request: "This is _ _ _. Requesting evac from _ _ _ _, over." Response: "Roger, search and rescue has been notified, hang tight, over." Like that but less ... Hollywood.
