socrate 8 Posted September 18, 2010 Hello all, I am surprised to don't see French airfields and pilots in uires file. German, British, but not French in "France" (un comble) In CFS3, ETO and MAW you have this. Now a site who speaks about WW1 : http://albindenis.free.fr/ Cheers Socrate
Hasse Wind 46 Posted September 18, 2010 I have no idea what that uires file is, but I've had and currently have many French pilots active in OFF, so even if there is nothing in that file, it doesn't prevent us from flying as the French. I've always greatly admired the French pioneers of aviation, and they had a great air force during WW1.
Olham 164 Posted September 18, 2010 Oh, what a fine big fund of information about the French Escadrilles, socrate! I had known this site, but had forgotten to save the address - now I have it back. Thanks a lot!! I hope, that you can enlist as a French pilot despite the file? You should be able to do so.

Hasse Wind 46 Posted September 18, 2010 There's a huge amount of historical info on that site. I particularly like the Escadrille emblem descriptions. All that art is fascinating, and even more so when you know the background. Now if only I could speak French much better...

Olham 164 Posted September 18, 2010 Can you try to translate the "wounded report", socrate? I read something of Prieur rockets, and a broken leg, but I don't understand it all. Hasse Wind, I use LEO DICT for translations. Here's the link: http://dict.leo.org/frde?lp=frde&search=

Olham 164 Posted September 18, 2010 Thanks a lot, socrate! It is always exciting for me to read about such details. It was not exciting for the poor Sous-Lieutenant Pouchelle, but he is dead now and may watch us from his cloud with some amusement about our passion.
socrate 8 Posted September 18, 2010 It's right but this men as sous-lieutenant Pouchelle have lived with "Honnor", if we can said the war is an honnor for the humanity. Since the night of the time Humanity is in War : it's thus. The true life is in us.
