My dog is half Border Collie and I will atest to their intelligence. Her selective attention based on the presence or absence of a treat is remarkable.

What sold me was last year at Christmas. We always get her a big candy cane shaped chew bone. We made the mistake of putting it under the tree. We got up Christmas morning to the sight of ONE unwrapped present. The chew bone. Not sure if it was smell or shape or both but she knew exactly which present was hers. Nothing else was touched.

My dogs are Newfoundlanders and I will attest to their absence of intelligence. Their attention, based on the presence of a treat only, is remarkable though. :drinks:

But Jessie and Lilly are sooooooo sweet, and very good life savers once in the water (without a treat.......):good:

Houdoe,

I don't know, my dog is half border collie and he's not the smartest guy in the world. Unless the labrador is to blame?
