saitek 52 total frustration!

So ive been flying with my saitek 52's for about a year now on FSX. I also had the old 45's for several years so im pretty familiar with saitek setups.

 

I decided to buy the new lomac flaming cliffs 2 yesterday because i havnt played lomac in a long time.

 

I of course went pretty much straight to the options and controller tab to set up my sticks and everything seemed to work as advertised until i started the game up!!!

 

I had my trigger set up to fire the main gun on the a-10 but it was cycling through my weapons instead!!

 

I had my main fire button set up to fire my missles "mavericks" but it was firing the cannon!!!

 

now several times i went back into the settings and tried this over and over again finally giving up after about an hour and a half of trying different things!

 

i should also add that it seemes im only having these problems on flaming cliffs!! if i play the original it seems to work just fine! that is changing controller set-ups anyway.

 

this really has me stumped so any help will be appreciated!

If it's FC that's giving you the problems, it's likely the command reassignment that happened with that expansion.

In the original LOMAC, and still in FC for the Russian planes, the trigger does everything...cannon, bombs, missiles. In FC for the 2 US planes, however, the command was split. Trigger is now the cannon, regardless if you have the cannon display on the HUD, and the "pickle" button on the top of the stick releases bombs, missiles, rockets, etc. So you can literally fire rockets and cannon in the A-10 at the same time if you have the bizarre inclination to. The F-15 doesn't really need that ability, but the real planes do it that way--trigger is only the gun, the pickle button releases "stores".

In the Russian jets, they use the trigger for everything so what matters is what weapon is selected or the cannon.

 

This caused some confusion back when FC first came out...uh, a really long time ago now I guess! FC2 is the same way. If you look you'll see each plane has its own settings list, and the 2 US planes have separate commands for cannon and stores while the Russians share the same key.

allright well as im still confused "lol" ill ask another question.

 

why is it that my trigger is cycling through my weapons???

 

all i did was assign my trigger for cannon and my main weapons release as my top fire button but in game that fires my cannon "not my trigger" and my trigger toggles between stores ie. gun, rockets, dumb bombs etc.

 

it makes NO sense.

 

and when i go back to check my assignments to see if i meesed it up somehow it shows correct! as in it shows the button i want to use as the button that is assigned to perform that function!

 

it seems as though fc doesnt care what im telling it to do its making up its own commands.

In FC control panel look at the column that represents your X-52 HOTAS. Remove all keyboard commands from that column. By default DX (Direct X) keys are assigned to the buttons on your HOTAS. Then re-map your buttons however you like. Are you using the SST software?

well i guess im going to have to use my sst software even though i dont want to!

 

ive just never had to use it before because ive never had a problem mapping my controllers out with the in-game settings menu's!

 

i honestly am going to have to read through the tutorial on the sst cause i dont even know where to start lol!

 

i believe you use the command that lomac has assigned such as if it says "fire main cannon" in the control settings then that is exactly what you type in the sst software for the button you wish to use correct?

so i made a profile in my sst software and then i saved it and it put it here C:\Users\Public\Documents\Saitek SD6 Profiles

 

but when i go to "load profile" in the controls menu and i find that file and select to load it, its telling me that its an invalid path or file name or some bs like that!

 

any help here? sorry for the massive noobish questions but this is frustrating me to no end.

The last Saitek product I owned was an X-45. The software has changed also so I'm not familiar with it.

I ran into this kind of thing lately too. All I wanted to do was move my cpu and disconnecting forced a reinstall on my x52. So I searched like mad for new drivers and software and ended up going back to 151205 Win32 drivers and matching sst software. Saitek does not support the x52 driectly anymore, only the x52 pro. You will probably need to use the older drivers for reliable service. Be careful with the microslider on the throttle and the throttle view hat, scroll wheel. I found these do not read or program very well under xp. I think it has to do with the multiple mouses and the scroll being a 2 way button in dx. So i programed around it. Use more bands than you need in order to keep unwanted keystrokes down to a minimum. Otherwise make your deadzones bigger. I use my slider for flaps. Works pretty well with four bands, middle two empty.

ok so i got the right drivers and now my problem seems to be testing!!

im attaching a screenshot here where i programmed the main trigger with the "spacebar" command to fire the cannon but when i go to test, nothing happens???

im very confused now lol.

Check your MFD throttle. Do you see a profile listed on the lcd? I have a feeling no, because somethings up with the drivers and the x52. I was able to use the smart software back before I disconnected. I can't now figure out what it was the proper match for drivers and S6 smart software profiler. All I could do was use the older drivers I posted and sst. Otherwise, the profiels woudl not load and I would get the the no profile, not a dat file error message. And no profiles woudl load onto the MFD throttle (x52). The file format changed too yo can see in the .pro or .dat extension. Along the way, I totally unistalled and reinstalled my loystick drivers with still no luck. It's the kind of thing where the later drivers ask for more hardware than the X52 really has, and so doesn't load properly becasue it's lacking chips or something. I'd love to be proven wrong but after a week wrestling with it it was a no go without rolling back to older drivers.

what i did was i went to saitek.com for their latest drivers and i just did an automatic update! it actually has gotten me a little further now!

now i can get a profile to load and the testing works however for some reason most of my commands arent doing what i told them too lol!

the only thing that works so far that ive found is my flaps which i have programmed on my throttle stick d fire. engines start may work too i didnt check that but anything weapon related is totally BS!
