+daddyairplanes 10,247 Posted February 11, 2011 been takin my wife to the ER or the docs bout everyother day for almost two weeks now. bronchitis that thanks to military doc blowoff's has progressed into pnuemonia. anyhow, i took her to the city ER instead of the base one last night and took the girls home instead of stayin in the waiting room for hours late at night. my current house is right below the flightpath for heavies coming into Pope AFB to land and they have been doin some training involving formations of 130's and -17's. but what i had never seen before was 3 C-17s in the pattern with their slime lights on! keep in mind they are generally about 500-1000 feet above my house depending on weather and it was clearing up from the winter "storm" we had earlier(typical fayetteville 3 flakes to show but the local flakes all paniced and opened everything late) so they were on the lower end of the ceiling. was loading girls to get mom but still would have made a great photo. they were low enough to silouhette without any assist yet also lit up with everything. quite different from my previous close ups with em in Kandahar or scorchin Ali Al Saleem. for those about to ask bout my wife she is somewhat better got to see her doc finally instead of a green suit one and get proper meds instead of being told it was "viral". military docs are great for patchin up lifethreating injuries, but i swear they shouldnt be allowed within a mile of a sick family member! sparkomatic 7 Posted February 14, 2011 Know exactly how she feels...back in '97 was told I had a "cold"...two weeks and three "doctors" later found out it was really bronchitis and had developed secondary infection in my Eustachian tubes. And proof that someone else always has it worse, this old dude I knew had been an avid runner and he kept complaining of pain in one of his toes. Of course you know where this is going...the base docs assured him it was normal. It wasnt...he had stress fractures and since it was "normal" he kept running. Something went from bad to worse and to shorten the story it ended up with them amputating the last segments of a couple of his toes due to irreparable damage. I take the fam off base for care and only go on base for the mandatory annual joke...uh "PHA". Good luck and cheers
