When someone goes down memory lane.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Know how you get absolutely flabbergasted when you receive a photo of which

you never know it was taken in the first place?

A buddy of mine with whom I served in Bosnia in 1994 lives in Florida

nowadays and he was going through his albums. He found a photo

he made with me in it and sent it. Completely unaware that he was

planning to I opened my e-mail and found it. Little jem and big

surprise! He was a press NCO and I was a corporal ambulance driver

(conscript!) during the UNPROFOR mission in 1994.

In the photo, it's me on the right. That skinny tanned dude with the

Tintin hair and the lack of head gear. Thought I share the joy I had seeing the photo again.

Cheers mates!

Hi!

The picture taken was during a training, preparing the fresh bunch for what to expect.

i was in my last month and already packing my bags to go home again.

My experience during the period was used, having had a few casevacs-for-real.

Understandably, these casevacs weren't photographed (who thinks of taking photos

in a situation like that?!), but this ne gives a good idea.

Haha, seeing me as a "kid" there gave me mixed feelings. In Bosnia I grew old

too fast, resulting in a culture clash when I returned home. On the other hand

it was my finest hour, having done something for others where most just turned away.

Cheers!
