Combat Flight Sim question

Recommended Posts

I've already found some cool flight sims but I want to expand even further.

1.) I'm thinking about getting Apache Air Assault preferably in a disk form that wont cost me from $100.00-$ 200.00.

and finally

2.) Falcon 4.0 Allied Force

Now because Combat ace is the place for combat simmers like me I want to hear from a trusted source how good or bad these games are. As always I do thank you for your time in giving me your opinions.

Falcon 4.0 is still one of the best hard core sims ever released. In the Allied Force flavor, most of the original bugs are squashed and some of the graphics have been improved plus many other little feature upgrades. As long as you enjoy flying the F-16 and don't mind dated graphics, this could be the best flight sim you ever buy.

I don't know anything about Apache Air Assault. I already have more quality sims than I can play and my PC is very old, so I am not getting any more sims until I can afford an upgrade AND have the time to play them. If I had a decent machine and time, I would already be playing the DCS A-10/Black Shark series and Rise Of Flight.

Thanks for taking the time to provide the info. And I'm with you DCS A-10 that game looks awesome.

I'll have to settle on gunship instead of Apache Air Assault for my helo flight sim. DCS Blackshark requires an online activation and I put all of my games on another computer.

Are there any other sims out there that I should get?

My list so far is this.

Air War

Gunship

B-17 Flying fortress

Falcon 4.0 Allied Forces

Falcon 4.0 Allied Force really is an awesome sim! Especially with upgrades such as Hitiles Terrain and Ayes High resolution cockpits installed, then it looks ten time better. If you get bored of Allied Force (that would take a loooong time imho) then you can always give Free Falcon 5.5.5 a try.. 99% of the stuff you will learn with Allied Force will be the same in Free Falcon in terms of procedures, buttons and so on, but Free Falcon is undeniably prettier than Allied Force and you can also play other aircraft such as the A-10.. although personally I find it a little annoying that all the other planes are basically limited to using avionics tweaked from the F-16 avionics core built into the sim, then again.. tons less annoying than being stuck in an ultra light sim like Hawks and others, even if you only fly the F-16 varieties in Free Falcon, it can still add a lot of variety and an "ooh" factor alongside Allied Force.

Ugh I just waisted some money on apache air assault...not worth it to me. It has more an arcade feel to it than anything else.
