Rise of Flight War Tournament starts Sat. May 7, 2011

Recommended Posts

S! all, the pilots of the US95th Aero Squadron announces their new Rise of Flight War Tournament, which will start on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1:00 pm Eastern DST (Eastern U.S., daylight savings time). The RoF War Tournament will be limited to 32 pilots (16 pilots per side). If the server is stable with the first tournament match, the number of total pilots will be increased.

The Rise of Flight War Tournament is designed to be a simple and fun war format for beginning and intermediate level Rise of Flight pilots. Accordingly, the server is set up for the beginning and intermediate pilots; the maps will show targets and planes, padlock is enabled to help those pilots who do not have or use TrackIR, fuel adjustments and radiator controls are automatic. If you have flown on the US95th Aero Squadron Server # 2, you will have experienced how the Rise of Flight War Tournament settings will be.

The Rise of Flight War Tournament will utilize the fighters available in the Rise of Flight Iron Cross Edition of the game, plus the currently available bombers. You must purchase the bombers separately from 777 Studios in order to fly them, but any RoF pilot can man the machine gun turrets of the bombers without purchasing the bombers.

Planes available in the Rise of Flight War Tournament:

Allied fighters - Nieuport 28, SE5a, Sopwith Camel, Spad 13

Allied bombers - Handley Page 0-400

German fighter - Alb DVa, Fokker Dr1, Fokker D7, Pfaltz D3a

German bombers - Gotha G.V, DFW C.V

All beginning and intermediate RoF pilots are welcome, both squadron pilots and independent pilots (you do not have to belong to a squadron to fly in this tournament).

The Rise of Flight War Tournament will consist of 3 matches. Each match will run for 3 hours, from 1 pm Eastern DST until 4 pm Eastern DST (Eastern U.S. daylight savings time) or until all enemy targets have been destroyed. The times should be convenient so RoF pilots in the U.S. and in Europe can fly together in the tournament (there is about a 6 hour time difference between Eastern U.S. and European time zones). The team with the most wins out of the 3 matches will win the tournament. To win a match, your team must destroy all of the enemy targets. If after the 3 matches neither team has won a match, there will be a scheduled sudden death match to determine the RoF War Tournament winner.

RoF War Tournament dates are as follows:

Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 1pm Eastern DST until 4pm Eastern DST

Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 1pm Eastern DST until 4pm Eastern DST

Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 1pm Eastern DST until 4pm Eastern DST

The RoF War Tournament will utilize a customized "Lake" map. In order to win a tournament match, a team has to destroy all of the enemy targets. Neither the fighters nor the bombers can win this tournament by themselves; it will take the coordination of both fighters and bombers to win it.

The targets are the following:

1) factory area consisting of 8 different factories

2) 3 observation balloons

3) 1 supply ship

4) 1 supply train

5) 1 supply truck convoy (6 vehicles)

Every RoF War Tournament pilot will receive a RoF War Ribbon, a RoF War Medal and for the pilots of the winning team, a RoF War Trophy Cup.

S! all, thanks to all pilots who flew in the RoF War Tournament 1 - week 1 match. Neither team was able to destroy all targets (but both teams were close) so the week 1 match will be considered a draw.

The match logs were parsed and have been posted; sign up for the next match to be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 1:00 pm US Easter Daylight Savings Time at http://us95th.org/phpBB3/
