Cockpit Gurus need help with WW2 instruments

Recommended Posts

I'm working on the Curtiss Hawk 75 cockpit (among other things) and I ran into several issues regarding current state of instruments implementation (Series 2 current level, merged)

My questons are as follows:

suction -any detail on this one? -using placeholder G-load instead

cylinders temperature -is modelled? if so -what's the instrument name?

prop pitch and mixture level -I guess CEM is not modelled right now?

current tank (int/aux) selector? any use?

voltage level? any use? I used it as accelerometer in my P-26 pit, so it moves slightly when pusching high G :wink:

I will use whole sliding canopy as speed indicator (like in some other pits) meaning it will close at lets say 30 MPH -IF I model the rotation of the closing lever and I want to model that small wheel with chain too -should I link the meshes or use independent rotation controllers via separate instruments? Currently they're linked to port side EDIT: which is linked to starboard, quite messy hierarchy I have there

TIA

ckh out the 'fake' Skyraider pit it did for the SF2V upgrad pak ... i fiddled some of the insturments to prop style

suction = engine vacuum

cylinder head temp does seem to work, maybe oil temp too??? (can't rmember!)

other temp might be coolant, for inline liquid cooleds

I have been playing IL-2 for about 4 years and may have some ideas. Maybe the thrust vectoring function could be adapted for prop-pitch, since mixture is hardly used at least when I fly. I only use it on very long flights to conserve fuel and other things. I think somebody did some key assignments for trim awhile back for the Tu-22M3 so that should be able to be worked out. I think the biggest things are the ability to control radiator, prop-pitch, manual trim, and possibly a mixture control, after that, your set!

radiator position could be linked to engine temperature, could work ok with radial engines
