JJava Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Just thought I'd point out that the IL-28's Finland had were recon variants. Also, a while ago i made some ini-edits to create various Finnish anti-aircraft weapons. If there's any interest I could post these on Sunday when i get back home from South Africa. Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Just thought I'd point out that the IL-28's Finland had were recon variants. I know, but I rather add the wrong version then not at all :) And I like Recon / Transport squadrons on the map. Makes it feel more alive. Also, a while ago i made some ini-edits to create various Finnish anti-aircraft weapons. If there's any interest I could post these on Sunday when i get back home from South Africa. Id love em! -More units! Especially ground units.. I think we might have a problem finding suitable objects for the FDF in the 50s, it was after all mostly Geman WW2 era stuff in use then, and Finland was and is still an infantry and artillery army, none of which are featured prominently in SF2.. Working on that one. However, I am a mess when it comes to ground war, so most of it is trial and error. Doing my best, but no promises. More Air Units will appear in next patch with a few other things. -Maybe more "second line" fighters and bombers in Soviet service, ie. WW2/prop stuff, not sure how much was phased out in the late fifties.. But a mix of MiG-15s and 17s would atleast be nice to make fights feel different. Yak-23 and 25 was added alongside the 15s in order to provide some variety, but I have sound few Soviet Figthers from that era readily avalible. I´d love to vary the usual bogeymen with more exiting stuff, but does not know much of it actually is there. Will be different during the 60:ies campaign. -A Soviet push trough the North of Finland and Sweden headed for Norway. According to many theories a year-round ice-free naval base in Northern Norway was the grand prize for the Soviet military. Not the objective for this campaign. The Soviets know they are pushing their luck and at all costs does not wish to involve NATO more then possible. In the main thread for the campaign is a timeline posted, I suggest you check it out :) Edited October 11, 2011 by JonathanRL Quote
+allenjb42 Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Some stuff in my Wings Over Scandinavia install I need to transfer to my Strike Fighters2 Scandinavia install: And a Bear gets too close to Swedish airspace: Quote
Juhis Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Nice Finnish MiG skin. I tried to download that Gnat, but the link is broken, can i get it somewhere? Quote
+suhsjake Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I know, but I rather add the wrong version then not at all :) And I like Recon / Transport squadrons on the map. Makes it feel more alive. Paulo and Spilone made a Il-28R version. It is somewhere in the download section. Quote

Juhis Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Im having little problems with that Gnat. Landing gears are invisible when they are deployed. It would be nice to see them Quote
Wrench Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 we had the same problem for the Indo-Pak mod. do this to the airbrake section: [LeftAirbrake] SystemType=AIRBRAKE DeployTime=3.0 RetractTime=2.5 //AnimationID=1 //ModelNodeName=Left_AirBrake //ModelNodeName=LeftMainGearStrut //HasGearDownSetting=TRUE //CloseWhenGearsDown=TRUE //DeployWhenOnGears=FALSE //MaxDeploySpeed=250 //MinDeploySpeed=100 //MaxControlSpeed=250 //BlowbackSpeed=125 DragArea=0.40 [RightAirbrake] SystemType=AIRBRAKE DeployTime=3.0 RetractTime=2.5 //AnimationID=1 //ModelNodeName=Right_AirBrake //ModelNodeName=RightMainGearStrut //HasGearDownSetting=TRUE //CloseWhenGearsDown=TRUE //DeployWhenOnGears=FALSE //MaxDeploySpeed=250 //MinDeploySpeed=100 //MaxControlSpeed=250 //BlowbackSpeed=125 DragArea=0.40 [MainAirbrake] SystemType=AIRBRAKE DeployTime=3.0 RetractTime=2.5 //AnimationID=1 //ModelNodeName=MainAirbrake //ModelNodeName=NoseGearStrut //HasGearDownSetting=TRUE //CloseWhenGearsDown=TRUE //DeployWhenOnGears=FALSE //MaxDeploySpeed=250 //MinDeploySpeed=100 //MaxControlSpeed=250 //BlowbackSpeed=125 DragArea=0.71 the model need complet revamping and lots of MAX work to seperate the animations meshes and such (gear doors are the airbrakes) Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 (edited) Paulo and Spilone made a Il-28R version. It is somewhere in the download section. I know. Already added that one to the next patch to outfit a Soviet Recce wing. Upon discovery, I think the exact words I used to describe Paul was " A magic genie who read minds in advance". Gnat should be here: http://marcfighters....m/Aircrafts.htm That I know :) However, working on 1.2 of Isbjörn, then will be going on for the 60:ies. Also still waiting for permission from Marcfigthers. Edited October 14, 2011 by JonathanRL Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 16, 2011 Author Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) What is currently planned for the 1.2 version. This version will probably be the final version before I start working with the 1966 Campaign. 1: Naval Task Forces Ever played the Falklands mod? If you have, you know exactly what I am going for here. There will be convoys sailing the Baltic, and they will be terrible to approach. Aside from the cargo vessels, they will be running with a heavy escort of Destroyers. As of right now, most ships there is for the Soviet side are modern ones, and thus, I use a modern era destroyer as a standin for the Soviet. The Soviet will also have a destroy class armed with the S-25 Berkut. Realistic? Maybe not. Fun and challenging? Yes. For the Swedish, the Cavalier Class is very similar to the Swedish Östergötland class, and will be defending their convoys with a Bofors 40mm. This work is almost complete, lacking only a water map for the Sweden Terrain. 2: Blue Side AA Swedish and Finnish Air Defence have been bolstered by Flack Cannons, aside from the light machine guns covering the surface. Included is also a stand-in for the Swedish Bristol Bloodhound system, in use from 1963. 3: More mixed Soviet Air Power. The Soviets and Polish now oppose you with MiG-15, 17F, MiG-19, Yak 23, Yak 25M, Il-28, Tu-4 and Il-16 (Yak-23 and MiG-15 on Fully merged only) Aircraft. While not very realistic, it makes for a more varied experience when you wont be facing The Clones for ten missions in a row. 4: Paulopanz Suprise Its going to be Legen....wait for it...Dary. JJava Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) Sorry, It's a bit late and only one weapon. It's the 23 ItK 61 (zu-23-2), the weapon that my unit used when I did my time in the army. I've tweaked the default ini's to create a more realistic representation of the weapon and made one of the two guns to shoot armor piercing rounds and the other HE rounds as in real life the belts would be mix of these. I'll post some more weapons (a couple of older 20mm, 40mm bofors, 35mm oerlikon) and a couple of missiles after I get their credits sorted out. The File Edited October 17, 2011 by JJava Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Not very much to do now. The Riga Class still have a standin, and we still await another little addition, but aside from that, 1.2 is almost done :) Quote
Juhis Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Nice, i cant wait! I made a ship attack mission today with Tunnan, and i destroyed a russian destroyer, so i am very happy. Im also looking forward to 60s campaign Which road airfield is that? Quote
+allenjb42 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Looks great! BTW is there a Draken for SF2 yet? I've seen some what-if's but no Swedish/Danish/Finnish birds. Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 No Scandinavian Drakens yet, but I think Wrench was working on the J version or something. What we need for the 60:ies campaign is the D and F versions. Earlier are fine too, but theese would be the most common. Quote
+WhiteBoySamurai Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I'd definitely like to see an updated Draken for SF2. That plane was so ahead of its time! By the way, here is something I just uploaded that might be nice for the 2012 campaign. The Visby took me less than 5 days to build. In fact, testing the weapons took longer than making the model and skin. (Stealth designs for the win!) While I experimented with different locations and angles for the pop-up launchers, many virtual sailors died as the ship's own missiles hit the back of the bridge and exploded. >_> But, uh, it's working now, so enjoy. Juhis Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) Actually there is a Draken mod for SF1, but it works in SF2 too. Look for Draken pack, it includes many variants Edited October 19, 2011 by Juhis Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Juhis: I know, but some of the skins are incorrect and low res. Quote
Juhis Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Yea, and the physics are "not so perfect" Quote
+Brain32 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Hmm there was a singled update but it was just attached to the post not uploaded in the downloads section with much better and re-newed FM for the Draken Quote
Centurion-1 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I'd be willing to give the Draken a shot at some point when I have my MiG-25s done, which might be a while. I can even offer to UVmap and texture someone elses model and/or make the cockpit to speed things along. Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Good news, just got permission to include the Finnish Gnat into the next package :) Quote
Juhis Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) when would that 1.2 version come out? BTW, i got some pics from draken´s and mig´s cockpit, if someone is going to make a new cockpit for draken, i can give him those photos Edited October 20, 2011 by Juhis Quote
+JonathanRL Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 1.2 will be released when both Paul and Samurai are done with their respective tasks :) So, "When its done", because I am aim it to be the final release. Quote
