zmatt Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) I've searched the forums at great length trying to figure this one out, but I can't for the life of me. I wanted to fly the stock red air planes as in SF1 so I looked up how to do it and the response was it works the same. So I grabbed the cat extractor and grabbed the pertinent .inis for the MiG-17F and added an A-4 cockpit. I launch SF2 and there it is in my plane list ready to go. I start a mission and at 90% I get a CTD. I go back and double check and I have all I need, save for the .lods but I didn't need those in SF1 either. So I extract everything i think it may need. Again not the .lods, this time because I couldn't find them in the 22 or so cats that the game has. I still get a CTD. I have no idea why it wont work. I encounter the stock aircraft just fine when I am flying NATO. Here is the MiG-17F.ini. The only thing I changed was added the cockpit which is just a renamed A-4 cockpit. [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=MiG-17F "Fresco-C" AircraftShortName=MiG-17 AircraftDataFile=MiG-17F_data.ini LoadoutFile=MiG-17F_loadout.ini UserList=MiG-17F_UserList.ini CockpitDataFile=MiG-17F_COCKPIT.ini [LOD001] Filename=MiG-17F.lod Distance=100 [LOD002] Filename=MiG-17F_lod002.lod Distance=250 [LOD003] Filename=MiG-17F_lod003.lod Distance=500 [LOD004] Filename=MiG-17F_lod004.lod Distance=1000 [LOD005] Filename=MiG-17F_lod005.lod Distance=10000 Here is the the directory Edited October 19, 2011 by zmatt Quote
Gr.Viper Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Just put FlyAll to TRUE in game's Options.ini and any plane will be available for single missions with A-4 pit. The only thing I changed was added the cockpit which is just a renamed A-4 cockpit. But the file says "MiG-17Fcockpit"? Quote
zmatt Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 ok, I'll try that. I didn't know that could be done. But the file says "MiG-17Fcockpit"? I renamed it so everything looked clean and orderly. Quote
Wrench Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) looks like file extension names are turned off. (ini, exe, etc). Afterbruner tga should prolly be in the /Flight folder why not just use Ordways's Fresco pit?? (and don't forget the radar ranging gunsight on Frescos -- you'll need the proper avionics ini as well mine: [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=MiG-17F "Fresco-C" AircraftShortName=MiG-17 AircraftDataFile=MiG-17F_data.ini LoadoutFile=MiG-17F_loadout.ini UserList=MiG-17F_UserList.ini CockpitDataFile=Mig-17F_Cockpit.ini AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=MIG-19_avionics.ini HangarScreen=Fresco_Hangar.jpg and the avionics ini (you can delete the RWR statements if you want. Obviously also work for Farmers): [AvionicsData] Name=SRD-5M GunsightRangingOnly=TRUE RangeUnit=Meters TrackRange=1000.0 ScanBeamAngle=10.0 MinAltitude=1828.8 //Audio only RWR [RWR] Type=AUDIO_ONLY TrackSound=RWRTrackSound.wav LockSound=RWRLockSound.wav ThreatLaunchSAMOnly=TRUE ThreatLaunchFlash=TRUE LockFlash=TRUE LockFlashRate=0.1 [RWRTrackSound] Priority=HIGH 3DSound=FALSE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=1 [RWRLockSound] Priority=HIGH 3DSound=FALSE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=1 Edited October 19, 2011 by Wrench Quote
zmatt Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Thanks, when I get a minute I'll make the changes. The options.ini change is nifty, but the a-4 gunsight is worthless. Quote
zmatt Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 so I added the pits, but when I fly the MiGs I still have the stock A4 pit. Does having FLYALL enabled mess with that? Quote
zmatt Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 That just removed the planes. What files do I need in the mods folder to get it to work? Thanks. Quote
Wrench Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 What files do I need in the mods folder to get it to work? The proper cockpit mods for the series (1stGen or SF2) I take it there was no readme for the cockpit downloads involved? the whole procedure is/was outlined here: http://combatace.com/topic/20789-how-to-make-ai-planes-flyable/ I take it that didn't work for some reason? or this one for the Fresco: http://combatace.com/files/file/9178-ordways-early-mig-pits-upgraderepair-package/ if using the Scooter "as is", you DON'T need to extract all the cockpit bits ... just the cockpit ini. The game engine will automatically 'seek out and install' the pit to the aircraft Quote
zmatt Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 I'm not sure why but having the file system arranged like on the first post minus the afterburner and the bullet holes it just doesn't show up in the game as flyable. It's nto that big a deal with the MiG-17 it doesn't have a radar, on the MiG-21s though that's annoying. Quote
