& to all those that didn't come back <S>

For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,

England mourns for her dead across the sea.

Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,

Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal

Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.

There is a music in the midst of desolation

And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,

Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncountered:

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;

They sit no more at familiar tables at home;

They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;

They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,

Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,

To the innermost heart of their own land they are known

As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,

Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;

As the stars are starry in the time of our darkness,

To the end, to the end they remain.

I have to tell you what happened to me and the other vets at work today. I make no secret about serving my country.Well this was the first time in 16 years that the staff,even the Docs that are from the mid-east, were thanking me and the other Vets and Reservists for our duty. The first time I heard it I was surprised, aftr the third or fourth time I had no idea what to say. So to all that thanked us vets, you are welcome.

Yeah Firehawk, I never got thanked or thought much about it till 9/11. Now folks come out of the woodwork at my job to say thanks. Ya know, it kinda makes me feel like I did at least one thing right in my screwed-up life...I really do appreciate it... :yes:

Went to Ieper in Belgium this week.

Visit the Last post and Poppy parade at the Menengate November 11.

This year were no WW1 veterans.

Also visit some musea, trenches and dug outs.

I was also at cemetaries of English and German soldiers.

Stand still by a young soldier. AGE 14 JOHN CONDON.

This was the war to end all wars.

We learn nothing when you look at the world today.

Salute to all veterans of all nations in each war spread all over the world.

We will Remember them.
