What happened to the EYE Candy of the game?

Hey Gang,

I just updated my game installs from May 2011 to the most recent updates. I do have only one question. Somewhere along my installing the updates did the new patches change any of the higher details in the video portion of the game. In other words it looks to me that the game isn't as sharp or crisp in the eye candy department anymore. I hope that nothing changed as far as the planes detail goes. That was the main reason I liked this game so much. If the game changes the eye candy then I'll most likely lose interest in it and uninstall it from my system. Anyone have any insight on this....just curious.

AFAIK the only significant change in the graphics dept from about May is that ground objects fade in and out rather than just popping in at a given distance; this was a bit controversial IIRC, with some feeling the fade should happen at a greater distance. If your planes or anything else looks less sharp, I would try resetting object detail and texture detail to High or Unlimited in options/Graphics, as it's likely the patch has over-written your previous settings, IIRC it certainly does this for your keyboard settings.

I still have the eye candy. It's still sharp and crisp as ever.

OK Ill give that a try, didnt know that it may have reset my settings. I did re-select the proper settings last night I just didnt fly a mission after I did it....I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Also try this.

 

In the Options.ini, make sure you change the "AntiAliasing=2" to at least "AntiAliasing=4"!

 

If seams in one of the last patches TK put the antialising back to being application controlled.

Setting it to 4 or more should give back the crisp in the eye candy like before.
