Hi there!!! Is it possible to actually take-off verticaly with a Harrier?? How do you do it? Because when I try, having the nozzles pointed downwards, the aircraft moves, from side to side, but doesn't lift like a helicopter. Or is it that the Harrier is Short take-off and Vertical Landing?? Thanks!!!

A fully loaded Harrier may not be able to do a true vertical take off. In practice a short take-off is done with nozzles at around 60%. Once the fuel load is reduced and weapons are expended the aircraft weight should be reduced to the point where a vertical landing can be done.

If you build a custom mission with a "low weight" Harrier (no weapons, low fuel load) you should be able to do a true vertical take off.

This didn't belong in the BSG forum, so I moved it here assuming you're talking of SF2 and not SF1. Either way, flying the Harrier should be common to both series.

As for the Harrier, IIRC like said the Harrier only does VTOL at low unarmed weights. Usually it's STOVL because fully (or even mostly) loaded the engine doesn't have the thrust to take off with no aero assistance. So short rolling TOs with or without ski ramps is the name of the day for a Harrier heading out.
