Yeah, the Kokutai operate P-3 and such. I didn't stop to consider space limitations in the list. So unless we get flyable naval search and anti-sub missions some day, those three can be skipped. As long as the F-15J and F-2 squadrons are in there, I'd be grateful.

just to let you guys that are following know, i am not adapting the universal squadronlist to the newly released NF5. like the Falklands mod it is a seperate install (not to mix with other mods) and has plenty of placeholders to offset future TW expansion. however with eburgers permission i may add a couple of units from it to mine. however they will not be compatible. so far it looks good but still DL'ing and unzipping folders

Daddyairplanes:

By all means use anything you want from the NF5 SquadronList. As you noticed, it is using the placeholder trick, which I picked up from this discussionthread. (Nice tip, btw.)

FWIW, there are only a few aircraft in NF5 that are actually using squadron level decals that are indexed against new, custom-added squadrons in the SquadronList. They are the F-4Ms and the Sabre4. If you pop open the decals folders for those aircraft, the decals involved should be pretty easy to spot.

Best,

Eric Howes

ok cool. my interest is mainly in the squadrons themselves at the moment. as i said earlier in this thread one of my criteria is that the sqquadrons flew a stock in game aircraft somewhere in its history. as for the placeholder, credit there goes to HomeFries. i was bangin my head on a wall everytime a new squadronlist came out as my Phantom mod is heavily dependent on that list. last update i only had to change 3 entries and 9 decals not the usual 75-90. it is a great tip, place holder itself should get entered into the KB i think.

DA,

I'm planning on releasing my RAAF Intruders tomorrow (today?). Please upload the version of squadronlist you are uploading with your F-4s and I'll include that in the package. I figure that our mods should at least cover down in the interim until this is released.

the one i did for Sherriff01's canadian squadrons is the latest. having a hiccup in my DLC mod in that the adjusted JPEG i did for the tails deleting the slime light is causing the wing tanks to go to a stock all grey even when the new JPEGs for them are in the skin. gonna rework the tail decal to simply cover it up and show above the tailcode as IRL. so that you dont have to hunt for it here is the latest and greatest.

as a warning to anyone else following this thread, you are welcome to DL these squadronlists but they are not the finished product. i am researching each squadron i put in for historical accuracy and most have flown stock aircraft sometime in their RL existence. there are also a few that are parts of major mods to try to relieved one part of the workload for updating. the finished product will be released in a folder sayin Finished Squadronlist. but i am still tryin to research good fits for it around all else in my schedule. again you are welcome to DL what i upload here for the other member of the project but it aint over til its Finished.

Thanks, DA.

Interesting issue w/ the tail. No promises, but why don't you send the files my way; I'll see if there's something from the forest view since I'm sure you're all about the trees.

DA,

Got to thinking earlier: given the push for tactical squadrons and the desire not to double dip, I propose we change entry 554 from VA-128 to VAQ-128. While VA-128 better fits the default timeframe, it is a RAG squadron that is already represented by skin-specific decals. The VA-128 Golden Intruders became the VAQ-128 Fighting Phoenix in the mid 1990s, becoming a Prowler expeditionary squadron when there was no longer any need for an A-6 RAG. Besides, we already have VA-42 represented for the East Coast A-6 RAG for people who want to take the A-6 Superpack to the training range.

No need to make the change now (it would screw up my A-6 Superpack, which still uses VA-128), but we should get it in when we release the RP. My Superpack 2.0 will use VAQ-128 as a Prowler squadron. If you prefer, I'll take care of the entry myself prior to release.

oh got ticked and was up late last night getting it fixed by ini edit. just have to make the change in all other decal.inis now. will knock out the adjustment in the squadronlist cause if i dont now i'll forget about it. only other bug now is that my Sharkmouth decals dont show anymore. passed out asleep in middle of workin it last night will be cross checkin the navy DLC and USAF DLC tonight. Navy has a decal that shows in that area, also squadron based, that does work. its the AF thats being difficult.......

There's a limit to how deeply you can nest your decals. Try removing the D folder and just going with F4Black\Euro1

Please don't yet. I posted that as much for myself as for anyone else, but it will screw up my A-6 Superpack in its current version.

I'll add VAQ-128 myself just prior to release.

ok well changed on HD right now but this will be a busy week for school. gotta make a whole buncha stuff in sketchup by thursday then friday i go for a three day drill as opposed to the usual 2. sooooooo, not updating anything this week really.... as for the decals just had to change the maxdecallod. 1 is fine for Sundowners skins but the dlc's like 3 better evidently but can still go about three folders deep without issue.

Here are the Red Force entries from the European campaigns. You notice a couple of things I've remmed.

1. I've remmed the aircraft type from the campaigns. This might help for traceability later.

2. I "translated" the USSR units. For Guards units with special names (e.g. 1005), I'm unsure of the proper nomenclature, so I left the original UnitName entry intact, but remmed out in case somebody can correct my entries.

Just found the Canadian/Italian medals and French ranks in NF5 last night; will be pulling those into the RP as well (along with my USN medals). I'll tweak the commendation write-ups so that they're not theater specific. NATIONS.INI has also been updated accordingly.

cool. good work on pulling the red air squadrons, i will likely make an alternate 900 block for those that want to fly red air. there was a project in the works awhile ago for Warsaw Pact Fighters but havent heard from that guy in quite a while now. i say alternate cause it can be plugged in for those that wanna try flyin red air. if not leave it as main. just need N. Korea and Chicom squadrons too for the otherside. does your nations.ini include the Army?

NATIONS.INI includes Army. I'll upload it when I get a chance; I've already incorporated the speech packs I have as well (German, British, VPAF, Russian).

What we can do with the red is as soon as we get level 1 decals, we can pull those particular squadrons into the sub-1000 range. I have them starting at 1000 because they are UnitNames in the campaigns, which means TK didn't make level 1 decals for them in the first place. If we have unit-specific skins, we can leave them where they are and just reference the squadron in the TextureSet.ini. We should only need to pull them sub-1000 if level 1 decals are made, at which point it won't matter anyway since the only thing that use the entry numbers are level 1 decals.

lets keep it in the 1000+ block for now. most of the red air skinners dont do level on decals, but add a units direct to the skin then decal the bort nums. i was thinking if anyone does ever get serious about a serious red air mod (like a mirror of NF5) but then they will likely want to complete the mirror effect and do a totally new list with blue air solely in the campaigns. but post 1000 listing would still help them out immmensly.

sadly in the er with my wife right now(on her b-day no less) but while shes sleeping im looking up attack aviation bn's. got USAEUR., now tryin to find Vietnam and Conus.

I'll be away for a week, so don't be alarmed if there are no regular updates for the immediate future. I'll be back with a vengeance at the end of September.

oh and at HR and ALCON, i'm gonna try to get some squadron badges on the Danish 104's at night this weekend. me thinks that is the main problem with units not showing is the lack of decals. if it works will release the mini pack for inclusion here, as well as a Dutch pack by end week next week. the dutch tended to have one squadron badge from a wing on one side and the other squadron badge on the other. i believe the prime owner was on the right and other unit on the left, thats what i'll go with.

to all working this project, what about comprehensive decal packs for the stock birds? i have a start with the post nam USAF F-4's but thats adrop in the ole TW bucket. Wrench has a good start with his ANG F-100 pack but it needs more accurate ANG markings (they were round pretty much pre-BiCentennial) not to mention F-84's round the world(and in the ANG) and Vipers. F-104s are actually well represented but would hafta be collected into one source whereas all are scattered right now.

and to the Danish AF prob i was having, yes it was a lack of level one decals. so in order to get different AF units to work they will need 1. a skin 2. at least 2 level 1 decals to choose from. trying to throw other service units on anything but the intended service skin or a generic skin will not allow a unit to be selected. (ie USMC sqn on a USNGrey1 skin)

Concur, DA. I for one would love to add a boatload of L1 decals, but that may prove to be time consuming.

This is one of those things that shouldn't necessarily hold up a release (unless you can burn through a ton of them), but can be released either as incremental patches in the file thread, then integrated with newer releases. I'll still commit to the A-4 reserve units for decals, though I can't do much more than that right now.

As for the skins, as long as we have a generic skin like desert or silver, we can always copy it and make it USAF et al in the Textureset.ini. As long as we're not creating new skins, we're still within the intended charter of the RP.
