Dutchy 0 Posted December 27, 2004 I think everybody has seen on tv how the quake makes a disaster in Asia. Thousends killed, woundend and missing. It is not nice when I woke up yesterday morning turned on the tv and see those pictures. By my self I have no family or friends their. Lucky for me. But for the people their, they have no luck. navychief 1 Posted December 27, 2004 Strange also, to me at least, how it is easy to say, "That sort of thing never happens where I live." But it could so easily. Tragedies strike anywhere, anytime. It is a horrible thing. Without my faith in God, ....well, I would be lost. God have mercy on those poor souls. Navy Chief
weak_stomach 0 Posted December 28, 2004 it all depends on where you live. your location will determine what natural disaster you will get hit by. there are hot spots around the world where the earth's crusts are overlaping creating tremendous pressure waiting to release. or if you live n a coastal city you might be hit with hurricanes or tsunamis and of course if you live near an active volcano you'll have to worry about eruption. as for asteroids its pretty much luck of the draw theres no safe place to hide from asteroids unless you live in a deep underground bunker
Scout_51 0 Posted December 28, 2004 you know folks,it never ceases to amaze me how we as nations go to war, kill each other, create massive weapons to destroy each other..then along comes mama nature and reminds us how insignificant we trully are in her scheme of things...kind of puts things in their proper perspective,at least to me.....we only live here, its her planet.. weak_stomach 0 Posted December 28, 2004 yes, more than 20,000 people dead in a single day is pretty serious. this earthquake is going down in history books as one of the worst ever and no one is likely to forget about it anytime soon. you realize that the map of the earth did not look like this thousands of years ago, mother nature is begining to redraw the map again. i wonder what the new map will look like
