It is easy. We just need to find out what is wrong with your install.

Okay, the patch level is correct.

Next, I want you to make sure your directory reads as C:\Program Files\Wings Over Europe\Objects\Weapons.

Within the directory, find the file Weapondata.dat. Rename it to Weapondata.dat.bak. This should result in your stock weapons returning.

Report back here when done.

No.

Not your fault...Windows defaults to not showing the extensions of files it knows already.

Do this:

Start Windows Explorer, you can do this by opening up any folder.

Click Tools, and then click Folder Options.

Scroll down and then click Folder and search options.

Click the View tab.

Scroll down until you notice Hide extensions for known file types, un-check this line by clicking the check box.

Note To hide file name extensions, check this line.

That should show the proper file extensions.

Now you should see two files in that directory that start with Weapondata.

One is Weapondata.dat and one is weapondata.ini. Weapondata.dat needs to be renamed to weapondata.dat.bak.

Once you do that, start up Wings Over Europe and test out a few aircraft (including the F-16) to see if you can load stock weapons.

As I said before, download this:

http://download.thirdwire.net/files/dl/WeaponEditor_022008.zip

Within it, is a file called WeaponEditor.exe. Copy that exe file to C:\Program Files\Wings Over Europe\Objects\Weapons.

Once you have done that, right click on that exe in the directory, and bring up the Properties menu.

You should see a tab called Compatibility.

Click on that tab.

Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

Select Windows 98/Windows Me in the drop down menu just below that check box.

Check the box that says "Disable visual themes".

Check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator" (if there is such a box...if not, don't worry about it).

Click "OK".

Now, double-click on WeaponsEditor.exe. It should open up.

Click on the Open button. Select Weapondata.ini. Click Open. You should see a list of weapons in the Editor now.

Click on the Save button.

That should be it...there should be a new Weapondata.dat file in the C:\Program Files\Wings Over Europe\Objects\Weapons directory.

Run WOE and come back here with your results.

Still not all the weapons, but definitely more.

Is there a way to get all the weapons.

Thanks

Okay, what exactly are you trying to do? Aircraft pylons and weapons must match up to be able to be loaded.

As an example, here is a weapon station on an aircraft.

[LeftUpperStation]

SystemType=WEAPON_STATION

StationID=2

StationGroupID=2

StationType=EXTERNAL

AttachmentPosition=-1.4470,-1.5845,0.5024

AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,180.0

EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,4.0

MissileRollAngle=180.0

LoadLimit=600.0001

DiameterLimit=0.5101

LengthLimit=4.0001

AllowedWeaponClass=LGR,EOGR,ARM,IRM,SAHM,AHM,FT

AttachmentType=NATO

ModelNodeName=UpperLeftPylon

NoJettisonTank=TRUE

NoJettison=TRUE

PylonMass=55

PylonDragArea=0.05

FuelTankName=SF400DropTank680L

FuelTankNodeName=LeftUpperDropTank

Note the lines in bold. Here is a sample weapon:

[WeaponData001]

TypeName=Mk84

FullName=Mk.84 2000-lb Bomb

ModelName=mk84

Mass=893.580017

Diameter=0.460000

Length=3.280000

SubsonicDragCoeff=0.092000

SupersonicDragCoeff=0.357000

AttachmentType=NATO

SpecificStationCode=

NationName=TERRA

StartYear=2030

EndYear=2050

Availability=3

BaseQuantity=50

Exported=FALSE

ExportStartYear=0

ExportEndYear=0

ExportAvailability=0

WeaponDataType=0

RailLaunched=FALSE

Retarded=FALSE

FinStabilized=TRUE

SpinStabilized=FALSE

EffectClassName=VeryLargeBombEffects

DragAreaMultiplier=1.000000

WarheadType=0

Explosives=429.000000

FusingDistance=0.000000

ClusterBomblets=0

ClusterDispersion=0.000000

GuidanceType=0

Accuracy=0

MaxTurnRate=0.000000

MaxLaunchG=0.000000

LockonChance=0

LaunchReliability=0

ArmingTime=0.000000

SeekerFOV=0.000000

SeekerGimbleLimit=0.000000

SeekerTrackRate=0.000000

SeekerRange=0.000000

LiftDragRatio=4.000000

ReleaseAnimationID=-1

EODisplayFlags=0

CEP=20.000000

Also note the lines in bold...you can see that there are some direct translations. Basically, if the weapon does not pass any one of the restrictions noted in the weapon station on the aircraft, it will not be able to be loaded. If any one parameter in the weapondata for that weapon does not pass restrictions on ANY of the weapon stations on the aircraft, it will not even show up to be attempted to be loaded.

Also, things like the theatre of operations, what year you are trying to fly in, etc will determine what weapons are available to use.

Ignore those...they are meant for the AI aircraft to use (a limitation of the game engine).

I finally just figured this out...you are attempting to use LGBs on a F-16A Block 10.

That aircraft if I remember correctly can't carry PGMs...the chin hardpoints for self lasing weren't even added until the Block 15 versions.

From what - the F-16C B30??

AIM-120 is a radar guided weapon - so yes you need to lock targets up on radar using the standard keys or the ones you have assigned

Unless the aircraft has its own laser designator / pod at the time - then you only thing you can drop on is the primary target using E

Targets will only appear if they are in front of you within the radars current range if you have the settings up.

Forget what you are doing - Learn some basics before you do anything else and practise:

Ok thanks, theres some good info there. Although not for the F 16 I can get the gist of it, thanks.

I will play around with this for a while, but how do I get the LGBs to work, I think I need the laser designator pod?

Thanks again : )

Just played with the radar on and yes its good, I still dont know how to get the target in the middle, but it comes up with a yellow diamond on the screen so I just use that.

Can you use radar to hit ground targets as well.

Thanks

These guys have gone over and beyond the call of duty here. They don't get paid for this and your questions seem limitless. At some point you're going to have to start digging through the research material. I'm closing this thread so they can have a break. Thank you all who have contributed. :drinks:
