Is there anything that can be modified in the helo's data.ini to make the door gunners fire automatically at designated ground targets? Trying to get the gunner to "act" like a ground object and fire automatically when within a designated range...

Yes, just wondering if there was a way to "fool" the game engine into making the gunner fire by modifying the [detectsystem] and [weaponsystem] sections... tried several scripts to no avail.

I think the closest anyone got was setting up a bunch of static ground targets that were designated as 'air units' (the same way as parked aircraft and FE's balloons are) and then flying low to them, which is, unfortunately, useless for CAS or armed recon missions as they'll only use ground units. A few years ago I tried to use the apkws as a stand-in gun by retexturing the rockets as large tracer rounds with the hope that I could arm a gunship turret with this, but they wouldn't fire on anything. It was a mess.

OK guess I'll go with plan B: freeze door gunner in place and set up similar to AC-130 or AC-47 with side-firing gun activated by joystick trigger... better than nothing!
