I'm looking at finally taking the plunge into the DCS World, with there being a pretty decent sale on Steam.

My question is - do they have campaigns/single missions for all of the airframes? Like if I buy P-51, can I fly any missions? It seems weird to fly a modern combat campaign in Georgia...

The huey has a campaign, right? I guess I am interested in any of the airframes, but I mostly am looking for a good single player experience.

You can fly missions created for the P-51 and a campaign that I thought was fun if you buy the module. You can create your own missions and there are WW2 aircraft to fly against now.

Also on DCS' site there is a section where people make and upload their own files, and missions are one of those types. There are lots of WWII plane missions there.

The lack of era-specific ground targets is a weakness, but it is expected to be remedied with the release of the Normandy map. For now, you can learn how to fly and fight the plane in a pseudo-training environment and then when the map comes out you can be ready to go.
