MigBuster 2,884 Posted May 10, 2015 New satellite imagery shows that India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier has made significant progress since it was launched in August 2013, helping India inch towards the goal of a two carrier battle group. https://www.bellingcat.com/news/rest-of-world/2015/05/09/ins-vikrant-makes-progress-at-cochin-shipyard/
RUSTYMORLEY 162 Posted May 17, 2015 There are some areas of India which are extremely underdeveloped and other regions which are are very poor and the local population suffers famine and abject poverty. Other areas have no running clean water. I think the cash could have been put to better use. But that's politicians for you - never mind food, clean water and medicine lets have a bigger and better war machine!!!

But that's politicians for you - never mind food, clean water and medicine lets have a bigger and better war machine!!! Sitting on your couch in an air-conditioned room, it is easy to thrash India, but have your thought about the kind of pesky neighbours India has? One is a failed state and an active supporter of terrorism, and which looks like it will self-destruct at any moment. The other is a regional bully which can only call Asia's two failed states as it true friends!!! So ,there you have the reason for having those "Useless" Aircraft carriers, fighters jets. Stick 773 Posted June 4, 2015 Well, given the fact that we have finally gotten around to building our own is commendable to say the least. Instead of importing hardware and technology, we might have a little more to spare for 'food, clean water and medicine'. Moreover, being the largest democracy in the world, albeit half-starved, we really must have an aircraft carrier or two to protect our state, if not the very ideal of democracy. Just wish it were using better engines...
