What is wrong with me?

I hear and see things promoting the movie The Big Friendly Giant ...

 

Articles read "Disney's BFG" voice overs say "The BFG"

 

I'm thinking .... why in the world is Disney doing a movie about a Big Fucking Gun?

 

Doom ... had a BFG

Quake .. had a BFG

Quake 2 had a BFG

Unreal Tournament ... had a BFG

 

Unreal Tournament was also the only game I recall with a deep voice going

 

Kill,

 

Then if you were really good and racking up the kill count you'd hear

 

Ma-ma-ma-monster Kill.

 

Played that game during senior year of high school "testing the network". during a computer class.  So when you started hearing "MONSTER Kill" coming from someones speakers we'd all just gang up and find the punk so he couldn't gloat for very long. ...

 

Is it understandable how I get a bit confused when hearing Disney talking about the BFG? Or is something wrong with me?

I've seen this in a cinema this week too and my thoughts were exactly the same. BFG is and will always be the weapon from Doom/Quake/UT. ;)
