RUSTYMORLEY 162 Posted September 26, 2016 MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS is it any good.??? I have been considering downloading and installing some additional security protection for my computer system after my brother just told me how his system was attacked and infected with viruses, which put his computer out of action for about 24 hours. Someone once recommended Microsoft Security Essentials to me and I wondered if any other Combat Ace members have ever used this product or are still using it, and the question is - is it any good. Thanks in advance for any info or advice you can offer on this subject.
Fubar512 1,350 Posted September 26, 2016 In my experience, both in the office and as a freelance tech-support specialist, I find Microsoft Security Essentials to be as useful as a coat rack in a nudist colony. I would rather see you go with an AV suite along the lines of ESET NOD32, whose effectiveness I can personally vouch for (just ask Kevin, AKA Wrench). +Trotski 936 Posted September 26, 2016 Depends what you use your pc for, if you use it for serious stuff, work related etc. then I would say what Fubar says is pretty much the right way to go, however, if like me, you use it mainly for gaming and non essential stuff, I use the microsoft security, as I dont need a higher level of protection, plus its free, I would however say to add in Ccleaner, Malwarebytes, Spybot, asa minimum.....( and all free....so an added bargain for me as I'm a tight wad hahahaha)

+Trotski 936 Posted September 26, 2016 I use spybot and malware bytes , as sometimes one picks up something the other misses, CCleaner is a must have too
