The Battle Of Palmdale

While talking to an old buddy in California, he brought up the "Battle Of Palmdale" and mentioned exploring the desert crash site of the drone Hellcat in question - he found red-painted skin fragments of the aircraft.  A little entertaining reading about 1950s aircraft technology and tactics.

Of course i was cheering for the F6F reading thru the story.

Last time i drove past mohave was the last time i saw an F-4E in SEA paint.

it appeared it was being set up as a target.

One can find some metal and canopy fragments from the Flying Wing wreck that changed the name of Lake Muroc.

I believe their are some bits of a P-61 out there also.

I miss Palmdale, Pearblossom, Littelrock, Bigrock, plant 42, and Landscatter.
